Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and I have always loved decorating the table just as much as preparing the meal. This year, I wanted my Thanksgiving tablescape to feel elegant and traditional, with many of the classic details I associate with the holiday. I started with a cream tablecloth and layered in woven pumpkin-shaped placemats, white dinnerware, equestrian-inspired plates, fall foliage, pumpkins, pheasants, and warm touches of gold.
The pheasant candleholders are especially meaningful to me because they remind me of my grandma’s classic Thanksgiving decor. I love how they bring color, charm, and personality to the table while giving it that traditional Thanksgiving look I remember from growing up. The horse plates add another beautiful heritage-inspired element, while the rattan placemats and autumn garland bring in natural texture. Together, these pieces created the warm, collected look I envisioned for our Thanksgiving table.
I’m so happy to partner with Wayfair once again, especially for Thanksgiving! Wayfair is one of my favorite places to shop for entertaining because there is such an incredible selection in one place, and they offer free shipping. You can find beautiful dinnerware and linens, cookware and bakeware, serving pieces, seasonal decorations, glassware, candles, and even the appliances needed to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. I love being able to shop for pieces that make the table beautiful while also finding everything I need for cooking and serving the meal.
Of course, Thanksgiving is ultimately about gathering around the table and enjoying a delicious meal together, so I wanted the food to be part of the tablescape too. From glazed ham and roasted carrots to mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon, chocolate pecan pie, and a fall-inspired cake, serving everything family-style made the table feel especially inviting. Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner indoors or taking advantage of beautiful fall weather and dining outside, I hope my 2026 Thanksgiving tablescape gives you plenty of inspiration for creating a table you and your family will love and can recreate year after year.
How to Create an Elegant Thanksgiving Tablescape

For this year’s table, I began with a soft cream tablecloth. Since I knew I wanted to use patterned dinnerware, colorful fall decorations, flowers, and plenty of serving pieces, the cream created a beautiful foundation for everything I added afterward.
From there, I brought in layers of natural rattan, white dinnerware, brown and green equestrian plates, sage green napkins, and gold flatware. A fall garland filled with leaves and berries runs through the center of the table, with pumpkins, acorns, and pinecones tucked around it. The pheasant candleholders and ivory battery-operated taper candles add height and make the table feel festive for Thanksgiving.
One of my favorite things about this table is how many of the decorative pieces are also practical. The dinnerware, serving platters, baking dishes, Dutch oven, and glassware all contribute to the look once Thanksgiving dinner is served.

Start With a Cream Thanksgiving Tablecloth

A cream tablecloth was the perfect starting point for this Thanksgiving tablescape. I love the softness it adds to an outdoor dining table, and it gives the patterned plates, warm wood tones, greenery, and autumn colors a beautiful backdrop.
The tablecloth also makes the entire setting feel a little more dressed up for Thanksgiving without being overly formal. It’s an easy foundation to use with so many different decorating styles and color palettes throughout the year.
Layer Thanksgiving Place Settings With Woven Texture

The place settings are one of my favorite parts of this table. I started each one with a woven pumpkin placemat, which brings in warmth and texture before a single plate is added.
I layered white scalloped dinnerware over the placemats and finished each setting with an equestrian plate. The brown borders on the horse plates look beautiful against the white dinnerware, and the horses give the table the classic, heritage-inspired look I wanted.
I used different horse designs around the table rather than repeating the same plate at every setting. The Spode white horse salad plate and thoroughbred horse salad plate are both available at Wayfair.
Underneath, I used white scalloped dinnerware, which is versatile enough to use throughout the year.
I finished the place settings with sage green fringed dinner napkins and gold flatware. I love the green against the brown-and-white dinnerware, especially with all of the autumn foliage running through the center of the table.

Add Traditional Thanksgiving Decor

The decorations running through the center of the table are what really make this feel like Thanksgiving to me.

One of my favorite details is the pair of Fitz and Floyd Fall Harvest Pheasant Candleholders. They remind me of the classic Thanksgiving decorations my grandma displayed when I was growing up, and I love having that little connection to her on my table.

I paired the pheasants with ivory battery-powered taper candles. The tall candles add height along the table and give you that beautiful candlelit effect without having to worry about an open flame outdoors.

I also ran autumn foliage down the center of the table and tucked pumpkins, pinecones, and acorns around it. Wayfair has a large selection of fall garlands as well as faux pumpkins, acorns, pinecones and leaves that make it easy to bring more fall color to a Thanksgiving table.

Create a Thanksgiving Centerpiece With Fall Flowers

Flowers are always one of my favorite ways to make a holiday table feel special. For Thanksgiving, my mom and I created a large floral arrangement filled with beautiful fall color, including hydrangeas from our garden alongside flowers in shades of burgundy, blush, pink, and peach.
I arranged them in a tortoise shell vase, which turned out to be such a beautiful contrast against the cream tablecloth. The deeper color of the vase also ties in with the brown pattern on the horse plates, while the burgundy and peach flowers pick up colors found throughout the fall foliage.
I especially love how the arrangement looks surrounded by the ceramic pheasants, small faux pumpkins, acorns, and autumn leaves. It makes a dramatic centerpiece while still feeling connected to the garden and the season.
You could also create several smaller arrangements and place them along a longer table. Hydrangeas, garden roses, dahlias, and chrysanthemums are all beautiful choices for a Thanksgiving centerpiece, and greenery or branches can add even more texture.
Add Amber Glassware and Gold Accents

Amber glassware is such a pretty choice for fall and Thanksgiving because it immediately adds warmth to a table. Against the cream tablecloth, the amber color stands out beautifully without competing with the patterned dinnerware.
I also love pairing amber glass with gold flatware. Those warm finishes complement the brown horse plates, rattan placemats, fall foliage, and pheasant candleholders and look especially beautiful once the candles are glowing.
Wayfair has an amazing selection of amber goblets in different shapes and styles, making it easy to find something that works with your Thanksgiving dinnerware.
Bring Thanksgiving Dinner to the Table

Once the table was decorated, it was time for my favorite part: Thanksgiving dinner.

I served glazed ham with roasted carrots on a large white platter. A substantial serving platter is one of those entertaining pieces I reach for again and again throughout the year because it works for everything from holiday meats to vegetables and appetizers. Wayfair has a wonderful selection of large white serving platters for holiday meals.
I made the roasted carrots in my new DashTasti-Crisp air fryer, which I absolutely LOVE! They were an easy Thanksgiving side dish and looked so pretty served alongside the ham.

For the green beans, I made one of my favorite combinations with bacon and onions and served them in one of my Le Creuset casserole dishes. I love having a set of baking dishes in different sizes for holiday cooking because they can go from preparing the meal to serving it at the table.

I also served mashed potatoes in my trusty Le Creuset Dutch oven. A cast iron Dutch oven is especially useful on Thanksgiving because it keeps food warm and looks beautiful enough to bring directly to the table.
Thanksgiving Desserts and Baking

No Thanksgiving dinner is complete without dessert, and this year I made both a chocolate pecan pie and a harvest leaf cake.

The harvest cake might be one of the prettiest desserts for a fall table. I baked it in my gorgeous Nordic Ware Harvest Leaf Bundt Pan, which creates an intricate leaf design that is perfect for Thanksgiving.
I displayed my beautiful cake on a glass cake stand with a dome. I love using a covered cake stand when entertaining outdoors because it not only keeps desserts safe from pests, but it also becomes part of the table decor before it’s time to serve it.

I also made a chocolate pecan pie with homemade caramel sauce. A classic stoneware pie dish is beautiful enough to take straight from the oven to a Thanksgiving table.
A lot of this year’s meal came together with my LG induction stove. I used the air-fry function for the ham, the stovetop for cooking and preparing the ham glaze, and also made the caramel sauce for my chocolate pecan pie on the stovetop. Having one appliance that can handle so many different parts of a holiday meal is especially helpful when several dishes need to come together at once.

Thanksgiving Tablescape Ideas for 2026

When I’m putting together a Thanksgiving table, I like to start with the pieces that will have the biggest visual impact and build from there. A tablecloth establishes the foundation, while the dinnerware and placemats give each place setting its own personality. From there, flowers, seasonal decor, glassware, and candles bring everything together.
For this table, the combination of cream, brown, green, gold, and traditional autumn colors worked beautifully. Natural woven textures keep the setting warm and relaxed, while the horse plates and pheasant candleholders bring in pattern and character. The flowers introduce another layer of color, and the autumn garland carries those colors along the length of the table.
Serving pieces can become part of the table as well. White platters and baking dishes look beautiful alongside patterned dinnerware, while a Dutch oven, pie dish, and covered cake stand allow the food itself to become part of the Thanksgiving setting.
Most importantly, Thanksgiving decorating should reflect what you love. You can fill the table with pumpkins and rich shades of orange, choose a softer neutral palette, bring out family pieces you’ve used for years, or mix everything together. A beautiful Thanksgiving table is one that makes the holiday feel special to you and the people gathered around it.
Thanksgiving Tablescape FAQs

How do you decorate a table for Thanksgiving?
Start with a tablecloth or runner and build the table in layers. Dinnerware, placemats, napkins, and glassware establish each place setting, while flowers, fall foliage, pumpkins, candles, and seasonal decorations can be arranged through the center. Serving platters and baking dishes can also become part of the tablescape once dinner is served.
What should I put in the center of a Thanksgiving table?
Flowers, greenery, fall garlands, pumpkins, gourds, pinecones, acorns and candles are all beautiful Thanksgiving centerpiece ideas. You can create one larger floral centerpiece or run smaller decorative elements down the length of the table. Traditional pieces such as pheasants, turkeys, and other seasonal figurines can add even more character.
What colors work well for a Thanksgiving tablescape?
Classic autumn shades such as orange, rust, burgundy, brown, gold, green, and cream are beautiful for Thanksgiving, but there isn’t one color palette you have to follow. For my table, I combined cream and brown with sage green, gold, natural rattan, and colorful fall flowers. The mix feels warm and seasonal while allowing the individual pieces to stand out.
How do you set an elegant Thanksgiving table?
Layering is an easy way to make a Thanksgiving table feel special. A tablecloth, woven placemat, dinner plate, and patterned accent plate give each setting dimension. Cloth napkins, beautiful glassware, and flatware add another layer, while flowers and candlelight make the entire table feel ready for a holiday celebration.
How can I decorate an outdoor table for Thanksgiving?
An outdoor Thanksgiving table can be decorated much like an indoor dining table. Table linens and dinnerware immediately dress up an outdoor table, while seasonal foliage, flowers, and pumpkins connect the setting to its surroundings. Battery-operated taper candles are also a wonderful option outdoors and create a beautiful glow as afternoon turns to evening.
