I didn’t realize how much I love and appreciate gardening until June 25th. I had just learned that my aunt only had hours to live, and I was having a tough time processing I would never speak to her again. I’m the type of person who prefers working, but I knew this was the last thing I needed to do. I went outside and started working in the garden and cutting roses. It gave me such peace and for the first time in about a week, I didn’t think about anything except making sure I pruned the roses correctly so they’d bloom in 6 weeks. Being in nature is so good for the soul and in my opinion a form of meditation. I have already started pondering what fall flowers I’m going to grow, and the bulbs I’m going to plant in the yard and in containers. I’ve started shopping for square planters since I think they look so elegant and sophisticated filled with hydrangeas and a variety of flowers.
It’s no secret planters for patio gardens are more popular than ever. I’m not the only one who has found out this year how relaxing and beneficial gardening can be. Garden centers and online retailers across the country have repeatedly sold out of seeds, bulbs, and plants since the lookdown last year because people are spending more time beautifying their yards.
