I love a great DIY project! Not only are do-it-yourself projects relaxing, but I love learning something new. It also doesn’t hurt if the completed DIY project turns out so amazing that I want to actually hang it/display it in my home or give it to a friend or family member!
On Monday of last week I fell in love with the DIY Recycled Belts Wall Art that DIY expert/Hallmark Home & Family member Ken Wingard made on the Home & Family show. I’m so excited to actually sit down and make one of the gorgeous hearts or stars like the ones he made! Did you happen to watch the episode or see Ken’s segment? Hallmark’s Home & Family show was kind enough to share the directions and the video with us, so you can make one yourself! Please be sure to scroll down for details. * If you have any questions or comments about the segment or the Hallmark Home & Family show, please contact them directly as I am not affiliated with the show. Thank you!

Ken Wingard decided to take some old belts and turn them into a work of wall art. He says you can find a collection of old leather belts at either thrift shops or asking family members if they have any old belts they plan on throwing out. When it comes to cutting the leather, he recommends using a rotary cutter to shape the belts. You can also use scissors, but it might not be as clean of a cut. This entire DIY will cost you less than $50.
Steps
1) Prepare your board by staining and/or antiquing
2) Cut your pattern from the Butcher paper
3) Trace pattern with pencil on to board
4) Space belts over pattern and secure within pattern using hot glue
5) Retrace shape lightly over the top of the belts
6) Use rotary cutter to cut belts at pencil line
7) Erase pencil line between belts
