It’s official, engagement season is upon us! If you’re a bride shopping for the perfect wedding dress, you’re in luck! We have the scoop on the top bridal gown trends for brides of all ages. We also have tips on how you can customize your gown for your special day.
Katie Grace Kissel of Build-A-Bride joined me for an interview recently to dish on The Build-A-Bride™️ collection by designer Heidi Elnora. According to Katie, Build-A-Bride “is a one-of-a-kind gown shopping experience.” Not only do they have exquisite gowns, but they bring the boutique to you! You can have as many family and friends at your house while you try on the bridal gown of your dreams.
The Most Popular Bridal Gown Trends Of 2018
Candie Anderson: What have been some of the most popular bridal gowns and trends of 2018?
Katie Grace Kissel: “The most popular bridal trends for 2018 were definitely lace and illusion! One of our most popular pieces this year was the Middleton Top. This add-on dress topper features an illusion neckline with delicate floral lace details just off the shoulder and covering the bodice, and was a favorite with our brides!”
The Hottest Bridal Gown Trends For 2019
Candie Anderson: With 2019 less than two months away, what are some of the hottest bridal gown trends that are being projected?
Katie Grace Kissel: “2019 is going to be all about color and shape! Brides are forgoing traditional ivory and white for dresses in blushes, nudes, and champagnes. White gowns will always be in style, but we love seeing brides go for our other color options as well. The other trend we’re seeing is fun bridal silhouettes! Pieces like T-shirts and boxy tops are being redesigned as gorgeous bridal-wear, like our Tonya T-Shirt or Lala Lace Box Top! These fun shapes are playful and romantic, and show the bride’s personality more than a standard sweetheart neckline.”
Popular Bridal Accessories and Trends
Candie Anderson: How about when it comes to veils, shoes, jewelry, and accessories?
Katie Grace Kissel: “Bridal accessories are also headed in a fun direction! We’re seeing shorter veils like our Ridgey Veil, and colorful shoes for the whole bridal party. We’re also seeing that statement accessories are taking the place of jewelry on your wedding day as brides are choosing capes and cover-ups versus necklaces and dangly earrings.”
How To Customize Your Bridal Gown
Candie Anderson: Can you tell us about Build-A-Bride?
Katie Grace Kissel: “The Build-A-Bride™️ collection by designer Heidi Elnora is a one-of-a-kind gown shopping experience. Brides try on and choose from our line of simple silhouettes we call our canvases. Once the shape is decided, brides have the option to customize with our different fabric choices, pattern changes, laces, accessories and add-on pieces for a gown that is unique to the bride. The other exciting part is that we bring the boutique to you! All of our appointments are done in your home for a luxury experience that is also comfortable. Brides are welcome to invite as many friends as they want, serve food or drinks, or have a private one on one appointment with our bridal fashion experts we call our Curators. It’s your day, your way, and we are there to serve you.”
