The song Margaritaville has always held a special place in my heart! My beloved grandmother who I was a caregiver for was named Margarita, and every time I hear the song it puts a smile on my face. Who am I kidding? Every time I hear any song by the legendary, Jimmy Buffett, it puts a smile on my face. His songs and the way he lives his life as carefree and as joyful as possible, is something he is known for, what we all admire about him and what many of us strive for. If you’ve ever wondered how to make the perfect Margarita or interested in living the Margaritaville lifestyle like the one and only Jimmy Buffett, you’re in luck! He has a new cookbook called “Margaritaville: The Cookbook.”

Margaritaville concept chef, Carlo Sernaglia joined me for an interview this week to share tips on how to incorporate the Margaritaville lifestyle in your own home. Candie Anderson: How do you incorporate the Margaritaville lifestyle into your recipes?

Chef Carlo Sernaglia: “We, in our cookbook want to transport you to the state of mind of the Margaritaville lifestyle with simple, approachable, fresh, fun, amazing recipes in the book.”

How To Bring The Margaritaville Lifestyle Into Your Home

Candie Anderson: Do you have any tips on how we can bring the Margaritaville lifestyle into our home?

Chef Carlo Sernaglia: “Yes, absolutely. First, you need to have the right state of mind and relax – that’s very important. Then, go through the cookbook. You’re going to find recipes that are going to take you to different places that we’ve been and we are, and be able to connect that.

For example, here we have shrimp ceviche and regular fish ceviche. It’s served in a coconut shell. It’s a great recipe, super simple, easy to execute, fast, approachable. Pretty much the recipes that we developed in the book are recipes that are with the idea of having you enjoy, have fun and make it simple where you can really spend the time while you’re doing it with your friends and your family.”

Chef Carlo Talks Delicious Recipes In The Cookbook

Candie Anderson: I had a chance to check a little bit of the book out. I’m typically not a breakfast person, but all the breakfast recipes in the book look delicious and they sound really healthy too.

Chef Carlo Sernaglia: “There are recipes there that are obviously classics that I won’t call super healthy, but they’re super tasteful like the huevos rancheros. There are some (as you said) that are lighter in form like the Key West omelette with shrimp and hollandaise that are great. There are some amazing for brunch occasions. Throughout the book you have different sections where you have brunch ideas, you have for parties, for beach entertaining, for tailgating.

When you asked me before how to incorporate the Margaritaville lifestyle in your home, it’s by taking the book and using it for specific occasions that you want to create in your home.”

The Secret To Throwing An Adults Only Paella Party

Candie Anderson: Do you have any tips on how to throw an adults only paella party?

Chef Carlo Sernaglia: “The paella party, pretty much what it’s about is being able to (while you are cooking and preparing the meal) enjoy, have your cocktails and share with your friends. Because the paella is something that is so easy to do once you set up and put it together, it will make it all by itself. You don’t have to worry about stirring or adding or putting. Just set up your paella pan, do it the way you’re supposed to, and then kick back and relax. 20 minutes later you’re going to have it.

Another way is you can pre-make the paella, have it done, keep it covered, have fun. Enjoy, entertain, drink your margaritas, your beer and whatever you’re drinking. Once you socialize enough, you guys get the paella off the pan and go for it.”
