When I was in my early 20s I decided I wanted to study viticulture and enology and become a wine maker. Friends of my family hired me to work at their new winery where I poured on the weekend! I thoroughly enjoyed it and met a lot of great people, but that experience taught me that wine making wasn’t for me. I preferred talking to the patrons and getting to know more about them! Thankfully, I made a wise career move, and the rest you can say is history.
It’s no secret that it takes a lot of hard work, talent, time and creativity to make an outstanding bottle of wine, but many of us are under the impression that it takes a lot of money to purchase one. Award-winning wine expert, TV personality Mark Oldman recently authored a fabulous new book called “How To Drink Like A Billionaire” where he teaches you the ins and outs of buying wine, and ultimately how to drink like a billionaire while living on a budget.
Mark Oldman was kind enough to join me for an interview this week to discuss his amazing new book “How To Drink Like A Billionaire” and what inspired him to write it. He dished on a few of the top budget-friendly wines, why you should “curb the swirl”, the difference between the “tingle” and the “pucker”, and whether or not you should should stick to classics or up and coming varietals like the super trendy rosé wine. As a fan of moscato, I asked him if there were other wines those of us who enjoy sweet wine might love, and he shared some amazing different varietals I can’t wait to try.
I was gifted Mark’s book “How To Drink Like A Billionaire” prior to the interview and absolutely LOVE it. It will make the perfect holiday gift for the wine lover in your life, and it’s also a great coffee table book!
