Online banking is more popular now than ever. As someone who lives in a rural area, I can’t tell you how convenient it is to be able to open an app on my phone to deposit a check or view my balance on my computer, and not have to travel 10 miles to the nearest bank. While online banking is popular with us millennials and generation X ers, it isn’t quite as big with those over 60.
According to a recent Federal Reserve Board report, only 18% of adults over 60 use online banking. If you’re age 60 and over (or your parent or grandparent is age 60 and over) and looking to learn how to stay safe while banking online you’re in luck! This morning Lynnette Khalfani-Cox, also known as The Money Coach® joined me for an interview to discuss today’s online banking landscape and why few older Americans taking advantage of online banking. She also mentioned a great program called “Ready, Set, Bank™” which teaches people about online banking, since banking and how banking online help prevent scams that target older people.
