As someone who suffers from debilitating migraines, I’ve read a lot about eliminating various types of dietary triggers, and adding certain food groups into my diet to see if they’ll relieve pain and pressure. I have done so, and will admit that it’s helped quite a bit, especially adding ginger root to my diet, which Today nutritionist Joy Bauer mentioned earlier this year.
I love when Joy Bauer is on the Today show, I am one of her biggest fans! She always shares the greatest healthy tips! This morning she joined Al Roker, Willie Geist and Natalie Morales back on the famed program to not only discuss how you can help treat and prevent diabetes (in a separate post) but she also shared more tips on how what you eat can help help reduce the aches and pains you feel, lower cholesterol and hopefully rid you (and me!) of migraines for good.
For those of us that suffer from migraines, Today nutritionist Joy Bauer dished that there are trigger foods that we must avoid, unfortunately as most migraine sufferers know….we all have different triggers. Joy dished that there are foods that help migraine sufferers like amaranth because it has “30% your daily value for magnesium”, and magnesium-rich swiss chard sauteed in olive oil.
To lower your cholesterol she shared the healthful benefits of potassium-rich avocado and lentils!
Lastly, most if not all of us love to have a sweet treat at night before heading off to sleep, and if you suffer from aches and pains, Joy dished that gingersnap cookies are a great sweet treat because ginger helps lower inflammation.
