When it comes to breakfast, I absolutely love smoothies! I’m always trying new recipes in my trusty Vitamix or experimenting with different fruits and vegetables to create my own. With this week being ‘Breakfast Bracket Week’ on the Today show, renowned registered dietitian Ellie Krieger stopped by the morning program to show Savannah Guthrie how to make the uber trendy smoothie bowl with a wide variety of healthy and delicious ingredients.
How To Make An Acai Berry Smoothie Bowl
According to Ellie Krieger, a smoothie bowl is supposed to be ‘thick and frothy, almost like a sorbet. You eat it with a spoon and you can top it with all sorts of fun things.’ The first smoothie bowl she made was the Acai Berry Smoothie Bowl. This recipe calls for Acai berries, a blender, a banana, milk and almond butter. You can top it with whatever you’d like, but Ellie Krieger topped her Acai Berry smoothie bowl with green grapes, nuts and a few other healthy must haves.
How To Make A Dark Cherry Smoothie Bowl
Do you like dark cherries? I love to add them to all my smoothie drinks, and on the Today show, Ellie Krieger made a delicious Dark Cherry Smoothie Bowl with low fat milk, a banana and vanilla extract that sounds absolutely amazing!
How To Make A Mango Ginger Smoothie Bowl
I personally can’t wait to make the Mango Ginger Smoothie Bowl that Ellie Krieger made on the show! She added frozen mangos, fresh ginger root (which is an anti-inflammatory), raw cashews, coconut milk, banana and ground nutmeg. Doesn’t that sound delicious? Yum!
