Tis the season for backyard bashes, fabulous outdoor soirees, and amazing summer signature cocktails with friends! Unfortunately our favorite signature cocktails contain quite a bit of sugar, and for those who are looking to cut down on their sugar intake it can be tough. What’s a guy or gal to do? One of my favorite interviewees, The Cocktail Club author, Maureen Petrosky stopped by the Today show with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb this morning to make slimmed down delicious no sugar added sangria, grilled pineapple mojito, frozen gin and tonic and margaritas without the added sugar!
To make the fabulous sangria, Maureen Petrosky used ripe white peaches, strawberries, fresh basil leaves, peach seltzer, peach brandy, and Prosecco. (you’ll also need a paring knife, a cutting board, a muddler, a pitcher). To make the grilled pineapple mojito, Maureen grilled pineapple slices, she also used fresh mint, light rum, club soda, and fresh lime juice. Maureen also prepared a frozen gin and tonic that would be great for these extremely warm days we’ve been experiencing here in Northern California! She used light tonic (or half tonic and half club soda) and a blender for this drink.
