It’s hard to believe that the unofficial start to summer is less than a week away! Where has 2015 gone? If you’re looking to get in great shape, clear up your acne, whiten your teeth and raise your confidence for summer 2015, you’re in luck! Renowned wellness expert and journalist, Dr. Christine Dumas was kind enough to join me for an interview this morning to dish on the health, wellness and skincare products you need to look and feel your best this season.
Candace Rose: What’s at the top of the list this season when it comes to health trends?
Dr. Christine Dumas: “When you ask people what they want in terms of their health for the summer, the number one thing they want is great skin. Obviously that has to do with drinking lots of water, wearing sunscreen, not staying out in the sun for extended periods of time.
But it’s a really great time to talk to your doctor about any skin problems that you may have including acne. Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States. It affects over 50 million people, and for a lot of people that extends into their adult years and that becomes incredibly problematic. One treatment option is ACZONE gel. It’s the number one prescribed retinoid free branded acne product in the country. The active ingredient is topical Dapsone, and it treats both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne. It’s available by prescription only, but it’s a great time to talk to your dermatologist, find out the best treatment for your acne and see if this might be part of a treatment plan that makes sense for you.”
Candace Rose: What are some ways to stay safe in the sun?
Dr. Christine Dumas: “I think we’re really clear on what it is to protect our skin. Very few people know how important it is to protect our eyes. If we don’t protect our eyes, we can run into problems – everything from premature aging to cataracts to eyelid cancers. Solar Shield has a really affordable sun solution with their fits over and clip on sunglasses. They cover all the bases, 100% UVA and UVB protection. They have polarized lenses to fight glare, to give you safer driving and they cost a fraction of what a prescription eyeglass would cost – really key concept and they’re also great stylish glasses if you don’t wear prescription eyewear.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any advice on how we can boost our confidence for the summer season?
Dr. Christine Dumas: “I think summer is an interesting time because I think we stay inside more during the winter, and then when it’s summer we come out and we see people we haven’t seen and we want to be confident. I think the number one thing that gives most of us confidence is having a healthy attractive smile. I’ve partnered with Colgate to help people understand how important it is to have outstanding oral hygiene by flossing regularly, brushing at least twice a day, but also switching over to Colgate’s Enamel Health Multi-Protection toothpaste. It can actually strengthen tooth enamel, fight cavities, freshen breath and whiten your teeth. It can even help reduce tooth sensitivity when used twice daily.
I think for summer health it’s all about balance. It’s about getting your exercise, eating right, having as powerful of a smile as you can, and also maintaining a really positive attitude. If you’ve got all of those four things covered, you’re almost guaranteed to have your best summer ever.”
Candace Rose: Well, thank you Dr. Dumas for the great tips. Where can we go for more information?
Dr. Christine Dumas: “To VideoPump.tv, and you can get all the additional information you need.”
