Happy first day of spring! With spring 2015 officially upon us, now is the perfect time to update your makeup bag with the trendiest eyeshadows, new makeup brushes, and skincare products tailored to your age and specific need. It’s also a great time to spring clean your humble abode and update your favorite tech gadget. Beauty and wellness expert, Grace Gold was kind enough to join me for an interview yesterday to dish on the top beauty, lifestyle and tech trends/must haves for spring 2015!
Candace Rose: What are the hottest beauty trends for spring 2015?
Grace Gold: “This time of year we want to clean out that makeup bag and really introduce some lighter, brighter colors. Metallics are really popular for eyeshadow and sort of brightens up your whole mood.
You also want to update your tools, and so I’ve got EcoTools here. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re the leader in eco-conscious beauty accessories. This is the complexion collection (please see above for details). What’s really cool, Candace, is they work not just with makeup but also with skin care to really maximize your natural beauty and help skin concerns like oily skin, dark circles, fine lines. My favorite brush is the eye perfecting brush because it really gets in underneath your eye to give you some great coverage there. The brushes are cruelty-free, soft synthetic bristles, recycled aluminum and bamboo handles. They’re really beautiful! If you’re intimidated about using brushes you can go to EcoTools.com and they can show you exactly how to use makeup brushes.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any suggestions for spring cleaning?
Grace Gold: “Yes, well we’re all deep cleaning this time of year and Caldrea makes some really great products from dish soap to counter spray to laundry detergent – they’ve got everything you really need to clean. What’s really special about them is they look and smell amazing. They make you want to clean, if you can believe it or not.
They have a great new scent called Pear Blossom Agave, which is crisp and bright. It’s a mix of pear blossom, ripe citrus and succulent melon. It’s perfect for spring, and I really love the teal packaging. This isn’t like regular cleaning products that you hide underneath the table. You can put these out on your countertop, it gives you a great pop of color. I also like how they use responsible ingredients so you’re getting an incredibly effective cleaning system but it’s very gentle and effective for your home and for your family which is really important.”
Candace Rose: What’s the latest in technology for spring?
Grace Gold: “If you’re in the market for a new phone and want to know the latest, I’ve got it right here! The LG G Flex2 phone. I have it in my favorite volcano red, and that’s actually exclusive to Sprint. This phone was one of the hottest and most awarded devices at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It’s contoured, it’s sleek, it has a beautiful profile and intuitive rear key design. The screen is five and a half inches. It’s actually curved which is really unusual. It has full HD P-OLED technology, which all those fancy words mean is that it gives you a really crisp picture on the screen. Also, a 13 megapixel camera so you’re going to get some beautiful pictures and selfies and photos for your social media on this too.”
Candace Rose: Should we change our skincare routine for the new season?
Grace Gold: “Well, yes, you want to spring clean your skin just like everything else. Introduce some new products and change it up. This is a great new brand – this is called SimySkin (please see video above for details). I really like them because they offer targeted skincare for every phase of your life with very age specific advanced scientific ingredients that correct, repair and reverse the signs of aging. The star ingredient is vitamin B12 which really helps repair, regenerate your skin. Focus on those fine lines and wrinkles.
The hero products in this line are serums, and serums are really great to add to your spring routine because they’re super effective, but they’re nice and light and they give you really great results. They make a face, eye and neck serum. I love the eye serum because you can really target puffiness, dark circles, firmness under the eyes. What’s special about the serums is you can choose from three phases that correspond with your age. Phase one is Maintenance (that’s 18 to 25); phase two is Prevention (25 to 45); phase three is 45 and older, and that is Recovery. You’re going to get ingredients really focused on where your skin is for whatever point in life you’re in.”
