Like many of you, my holiday season doesn’t end on December 25th. With extended family across the country and some as far away as Mexico, my family and I will be celebrating Christmas until the beginning of February. For those of us who didn’t shop ahead of time, it can be difficult to find the perfect holiday gift for those near and far. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect present for everyone on your list, you’re in luck! Lifestyle expert, Justine Santaniello was kind enough to join me recently for an interview to share some great last minute holiday and Christmas gifts for those of us who are still shopping for the perfect present!
Candace Rose: Is it possible to find great gifts that don’t seem last minute?
Justine Santaniello: “I think so. I’m a bit of a procrastinator, I think the trick is just buying for people based on their personality types and their interests, so you know they’re going to love the gift no matter what. For example, the person who loves seafood, who loves to go out to eat – Red Lobster is giving $10 in bonus coupons for every $50 you spend on gift certificates at the restaurant, or you can go to RedLobster.com. They’re giving $5 in bonus coupons for every $25 you spend on gift certificates, which is an amazing deal. You can make it a little more personalized by setting a date for you two to go to dinner together and enjoy together.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any tips for giving thoughtful gifts in a hurry?
Justine Santaniello: “Don’t forget anybody on the list. For example – our pets. They really are a part of the family, you don’t want to forget about them. Petsmart is going to be your one stop shop for them. They have all of their lines, they’re all exclusive for toys and apparel. They have the Bret Michaels Pets Rock Ugly Holiday Sweaters, they even have sweaters with LED lights, and they even have Disney’s Frozen character toys.
Now for the person who loves wine, who loves to play host or hostess – the Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi wine, we have the cabernet sauvignon and the chardonnay. It’s $7 a bottle. A really cute tip is with the cabernet sauvignon, they have a great mulled wine recipe that you can give with the bottles. It’s just cabernet sauvignon as the base, brandy, sugar, spices. You throw it into a slow cooker and that’s it.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any ideas for DIY gifts?
Justine Santaniello: “Yes, a great idea for DIY gifts, and those really show that you put the effort and the thought into them. In a mason jar we have all of the pre-measured dry ingredients for cookie recipes, so their favorite cookie recipe, your favorite – you put all of the dry ingredients right into the mason jar, give them the recipe. All they need to do is add the wet ingredients. It really shows you took the time, but is really inexpensive and really doesn’t take a lot of time on your part!”
Candace Rose: Thanks for the great holiday gift ideas, Justine. Where can we go for more information?
Justine Santaniello: “You can go to JustHaves.com.”
