Are you planning on taking your small children on their first road trip but aren’t sure where to start? Summer can be a great time to travel, but the heat can bring on its own set of challenges, whether you’re on the road or enjoying the scenery. Award winning journalist, mom and parenting expert Melissa Gerstein of The Moms knows all about traveling with small children and joined me for an interview recently to dish on keeping your kids safe on vacation and the must haves every parent needs in order to do so!
Candace Rose: Where should we start when it comes to summer safety?
Melissa Gerstein: “Summertime is a time when a lot of families take road trips, as you know…so you want to be safe and be prepared.
I’m working with some great companies today, so I’m going to start with the Even-Flo Platinum All-In-One car seat. It keeps kids safe and comfortable. They have an outlast performance fabric which was developed at NASA. The technology is amazing, it actually can regulate your kid’s temperature…so you’re not looking over all the time checking them. They have these great amazing buckle pockets so the silver metal doesn’t get hot and doesn’t burn your little one. It actually happened to mine, so I’m really in love with this Even-Flo baby car seat.
Potty training is a busy time for families in the summer. It’s a popular time and we have Pampers Easy Ups, and they absorb 25% more than the leading brand and they provide better leak protection so you’re not pulling off the road so much if you’re on your family’s summer road trip. They have great little characters like Dora and Diego, which my kiddos loved Pampers Easy Ups makes your life a little easier and you’re prepared.
Of course you should save where you can and start with breakfast. Malt-O-Meal is delicious and affordable. You can save money it won’t compromise the quality. A recent taste test showed that many people preferred certain varieties of Malt-O-Meal over your Post cereal brands.
Finally, which is so important is sun care. Please protect your skin, people. Walgreens has every brand, they make it convenient and easy. They’ve got the sports brands, the naturals, the organics and the brands for babies. I’m spraying my kids all the time! And Walgreens is on every corner in America now, and that is great for sun care.
All these brands just will help you be more prepared so you have a fun easy breezy summer.”
