Are you on the hunt for a great tech gadget, game or laptop? If so, you’re in luck! Tech expert, Katie Linendoll joined me for an interview this morning to dish on her favorite tech must haves that won’t break the bank!
Candace Rose: Is it possible to buy a top of the line laptop without going into debt?
Katie Linendoll: “Yeah, especially during this holiday season lots of teens and lots of students think they have to spend thousands of dollars on a laptop…and it doesn’t have to be the case. Let’s start with HP Chromebook, it’s a 14er, it’s $299…it’s going that 14 inch diagonal display. It also has nine hours of battery life, Intel graphics happening behind the scene…got the colors to hook you up with: white, coral and turquoise. It’s 4.1 pounds and easy to take with you anywhere you go. I love this option- for just $50 extra, you can have 4G connectivity. So anywhere you’re going, whether you are that student, whether you are that business traveler…gotcha hooked up with that connectivity.”
Candace Rose: What’s the secret to picking a great stocking stuffer everyone will love?
Katie Linendoll: “This is a nerdy little option that I’m kind of obsessed with- I’ve been using this year round from Energizer’s new line of light fusion technology. This is a pop up lantern (please see video for details) and also a folding LED lantern and a 3-in-1 flashlight. You control the brightness, 100 hours of run time, works off of double a batteries, and starts at just $19.99. I’ve taken this camping, I’ve used it in my Halloween holiday bucket when I was going around with the kids. It’s just a cool little option.”
Candace Rose: Good home security is priceless, what do you recommend?
Katie Linendoll: “It’s amazing this world of smart home. I’ve tested everything from smart fridges to smart forks; I think this is a more practical option- this is a dropcam pro, and it starts at just $149. It allows you to monitor in on your home 24/7. You can set this baby up in minutes, it’s super simple to use. It’s a WIFI video camera. You can actually get text and email notifications via the app alerting you of motion or sound, so you can always pop in when you want to whether you have a babysitter over and you want to pop in for a few moments, or you’re just checking in from the home office or away on vacation. Dropcam starts at $149.”
Candace Rose: What’s new in games?
Katie Linendoll: “Well, this is an exciting holiday season for the gamer, myself included! So whether you’re picking up Xbox One or PS4 or you have a Wii or a 3DS…parents are always looking for the hottest game. You cannot go wrong with Skylanders Swap Force. They were actually listed on the hot toy list from Toys “R” Us. What’s cool is that parents know that Skylanders Swap Force are a special kind of Skylander. They actually come with little characters. You can mix and match the bottom and top halves so you can create 250 combos activated by the portal of power. It’s a super fun game that you can’t go wrong with- Skylanders Swap Force starting at $74.99.”
Candace Rose: Are there any other must haves we need to know about?
Katie Linendoll: “Well, I’m obsessed with music, as are most people. Two remaining gadgets that I love to talk about from JBL. First off I’ve never seen a Bluetooth speaker quite like this. This is the JBL Pulse, and it comes on with a full on LED light show. You can actually change the colors and effects made from the speaker or from the IOS app. It has 10 hours of battery life, and just a really cool gifting option.
Also from JBL, we talk about big sound quality, nowadays you can spend $300-$400 on a great pair of headphones. These are their Baseline headphones- $99.95 DJ style over ear headphones and they also have dual rotating ear cuffs. It’s got good sound quality, great amount of colors to choose from, built in mic so you can take and receive calls…and gadgets here for everyone.”
Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information?
Katie Linendoll: “All of these gadgets (amongst other details) can be found at ThunkNews.com./GreatGifts.”
