With the new year almost upon us, beauty expert, Jeannine Morris of Beauty Sweet Spot stopped by to share her favorite beauty and hair products, and the top trends for hair in 2012!
Candace Rose: With the new year fast approaching, what can we do to get a fresh start?
Jeannine Morris: "Well, there's a lot of things you can do right in the comfort of your very own home. And first it's really easy to whiten your teeth at home and I love the Crest 3D White Collection. I swear by it and so do top beauty magazine editors. They rated it the number one whitening collection this year, so it's all in their Professional Effects white strips, that's where the secret is. It removes about 14 years of surface stains from your teeth. And then if you use it in conjunction with their other products in the collection you can see results in just one day, so it give us the instant gratification we all want. And their whitening toothpaste actually has a dual silica system in it that will help to remove polish stains everyday there after to keep your teeth white and look great for the rest of the year. So that's one thing everybody can do. It's simple and to start the new year off fresh."
Candace Rose: And how about when it comes to skincare and beauty?
Jeannine Morris: "Now skincare is one of my passions and I found two new products that I think everybody should check out for the new year. One is PaloVia, it's an at-home laser, it's the first one that's cleared and approved by the FDA to help fight the fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. Now it won an Allure Magazine Beauty Award and it uses the same technology that they use at the dermatologist offices to do the laser treatments. But it's proven to do the same thing at home and it's a lot safer to use this device for at-home use. It's really fool proof, it's a fraction of the cost of the treatments in derm offices as well. So it's something you might want to look into investing for the new year.
Another thing for skincare is Avon's Anew Genics treatment cream. Now this is something that everybody should really pay attention to the technology in their night cream products and this is something that will really, really work over time. It's a night cream (like I said) that actually works with gene technology to make your skin cells act and look younger over time. So it works with your skins own DNA. You can find more information at Avon.com."
Candace Rose: How about for hair?
Jeannine Morris: "Now for hair, I didn't know this but I read this survey by Nioxin that said that hair thinning was the second biggest aging concern for women, next to fine lines and wrinkles, so that's a huge deal and actually 68% of those women said that they're finding more hair in their hair brush and down the drain than ever before. So to prevent our hair from thinning over time or hair loss you can start by using Nioxin's three step system or even if your hair is already thin, if you're using it it's going to make it thicker within just 30 days. Stylists say that this is their number one solution for thinning hair; and so it comes with like a shampoo, a conditioner and a leave-in scalp treatment and that's really like magic in a bottle to promote growth from here on out. So I think that you know, thinning hair is something that we should all be aware of and promoting healthy hair growth is something great to do to start the new year off as well."
Candace Rose: What are some of the big beauty and hair trends we'll be seeing in 2012?
Jeannine Morris: "In 2012 there's going to be a lot of obviously new makeup looks but we're seeing a lot of different things like celebrities are already starting these trends; women are cutting their hair shorter. A lot of the pixie cuts, like Michelle Williams has and men are actually growing their hair out longer, kind of like the Johnny Depp style. So I think that trend in women wearing shorter hair and guys having longer hair is going to continue throughout 2012 and it's something that a lot of people are starting to embrace not just celebrities. So that's going to be a big trend in 2012. We'll see who cuts their hair!"
