As someone who has had the pleasure of interviewing America’s favorite couple Giuliana and Bill Rancic of Style’s Giuliana and Bill show on a few different occasions, I’m thrilled to announce that tomorrow you will have the chance to speak with them yourselves! And let me tell you, they are just as wonderful, gracious and fun as they appear on your TV screen.
Join Style’s Giuliana and Bill for a live chat tomorrow (11/20) at 7:30pm ET/PT where they’ll answer all of your must-know questions. Then immediately after the episode, tune into Style at 8/7c as the Rancics welcome a new addition baby Duke to the family!
In the upcoming episode, Giuliana and Bill are elated to finally be experiencing the birth of their son. They enjoy skin-to-skin contact with their newborn son Duke and Bill cuts the umbilical cord. And in the days after the birth, the realization dawns that Giuliana and Bill’s lives have been forever changed.
Bill and Giuliana Rancic, who recently revealed they are expecting a baby boy later this summer, joined me yesterday to discuss love, the secret to having a great relationship, Nivea's National PDA Day and the new dating show they're hosting which is executive produced by Eva Longoria and debuting later this year.
Bill and Giuliana Rancic stopped by to discuss love, relationships, NIvea's National PDA Day and the dating show they're hosting!
Candace Rose: You've partnered once again with Nivea, this time for the first ever National PDA Day. Can you tell us about that?
Bill Rancic: "Nivea, Giuliana and myself teamed up and we're kicking off this National PDA Day because Nivea had done a study and they found people are actually touching their BlackBerrys, and their iPhones, and their iPads more than they are their spouses. And Nivea understands the power of touch, and they said 'you know what, on National PDA Day, put the BlackBerrys and the iPhones and all the different devices down and hold the hand of the person you love or put your arm around the person you love and really show them that affection is being a lost art almost'. People are so focused on their lives and their devices and everything else, they're not paying attention to what's most important in life and that's the people you love."
Candace Rose: You're treating couples to a morning date in New York City's Herald Square. Can you tell us about that?
Giuliana Rancic: "It's called Coffee & a Cuddle, and it's going to be a lot of fun. We're going to be there in Herald Square in the morning. We're super excited and then we're going to end this whole event in Los Angeles with a musical performance by Ne-Yo, which is super exciting, at the Grove in L.A. This National PDA Day, we're doing special events in 11 cities, so if you go to NationalPDADay.com you can see if we're doing anything in your city, and if we're not, it's okay because you can register to win a date night on us and on Nivea. We're going to cover the fee for the babysitter, your dinner- whatever you want, we just want you to have a fun date night and reconnect."
Candace Rose: You're both such a great couple that so many people look up to, what would you say is the key to having a great relationship and how important is PDA?
Bill Rancic: "Well, I think one of the most important ingredients is to put effort in. A lot of people say 'oh, relationships take work'. We don't like to use that word. Work is a four letter word; we say it takes effort. It's the little things like when Giuliana wakes up I've got coffee waiting for her in the morning, and she gives me back massages after a long trip."
Giuliana Rancic: "I use a lot of Nivea lotion- that's one of the perks of working with Nivea is we get so much great moisturizer and lip balm. So about once a week or once every two weeks I give Bill a nice massage."
Bill Rancic: "I'd like to put that in writing- once a week."
Giuliana Rancic: "Like Bill said, 'it's doing the little things for each other'.
Bill Rancic: "You don't have to spend thousands of dollars on your significant other, it's putting the effort and time in like simple walks, that makes a big difference."
Candace Rose: Do you have any relationship advice for couples (such as yourself) who are juggling work, and are parents-to-be or new parents?
Giuliana Rancic: "One thing Bill and I do is three or four nights a week, after a long day of work when we don't see each other, we come home and instead of sitting in front of the internet or the TV we take a walk. Whether it's a 10 minute walk or an hour walk, we hold hands, we reflect on the day and sometimes we'll take different paths. One day we'll walk out of the house, we'll go to the left; another day we'll go to the right. Another day we'll go straight, and it's nice because you just experience different things."
Bill Rancic: "You don't get caught in a rut when you do that. You've got to change up your game plan. You can't get stuck in a comfort zone, and that applies to all aspects of life, whether it's your relationship, whether it's your work environment. When you become in that comfort zone, you don't grow and you don't take things to the next level."
Candace Rose: You recently wrapped up season 5 of your reality show 'Giuliana & Bill', and I heard you're hosting a new dating show together."
Giuliana Rancic: "We are. It's for NBC, it's called 'Ready For Love', and it's a new dating series. Eva Longoria is the executive producer, and it premieres in the winter. We just started shooting it and we're having a great time. It's like another scale reality show. It's going to be great."
Candace Rose: How does it differ from other dating shows?
Giuliana Rancic: "We have three incredible guys instead of just one."
Bill Rancic: "We have three matchmakers, so there's a little bit of science behind it."
Giuliana Rancic: "We're looking for real connections, people who are truly going to fall in love and are matched accordingly, and not just 'oh you look kind of cute'. It's not about that, it's true connection. We just started shooting it, and it's going incredibly well."
Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you'd like to share with viewers?
Bill Rancic: "Well, we just encourage everyone to go to NationalPDADay.com, and we want them to win a date night with us and Nivea. Please go there and we're going to treat you to a great night out on the town."
On Friday of last week, I had the great pleasure of being joined by celebrities, Giuliana and Bill Rancic of the hit reality series “Giuliana and Bill” to discuss NIVEA’s Kiss of a Lifetime contest and season five of “Giuliana and Bill”!
Giuliana and Bill Rancic of the Style Network’s hit reality TV series “Giuliana and Bill.”
Candace: Can you tell us about the Kiss of a Lifetime contest?
Bill Rancic: “Well, this Kiss of a Lifetime contest is amazing. We are searching for America’s most deserving couple. We want every couple out there to go to NIVEA’s facebook page and tell us their story of love; tell us how they were able to triumph maybe some obstacles that were in their way in 2011 and want to hear their stories; and we’re going to to narrow all the entries down over the nice couple of months. We’re going to pick five finalists and we’re going to fly those five finalists right here to New York City and we’re going to pick one deserving couple.”
Candace: Can you tell us more about the contest- so they get a chance to spend New Years Eve with you?
Giuliana Rancic: “That’s right. The deserving couple’s going to be with us right in Times Square on the NIVEA Kiss stage which is the best place in the world to be on New Years- trust me; we did it last year. And so they’re going to be with us, it’s VIP everything- 3 days/2 nights in New York City and they’re also going to appear in a NIVEA commercial which is pretty incredible.”
Bill Rancic: “It’s rock star treatment.”
Giuliana Rancic: “It really is. It’s definitely one of the best contests I’ve every heard about on facebook, so all you have to do is go to NIVEA’s facebook page and you don’t have to write anything too long or crazy, just a sweet simple story about why you’ve overcome some obstacles and how you’ve triumped in your relationship.”
Candace: So as long as you’re a member of facebook, you’re good to go.
Giuliana Rancic: “Exactly.”
Bill Rancic: “Yeah, it’s as easy as it gets.”
Giuliana Rancic: “Yeah, just facebook. Just go right to the NIVEA page, it’s very easy to find.”

Candace: As co-authors of the book, “I Do, Now What?“; what advice do you have for couples?
Bill Rancic: “Well, one of the big tips we offer in the book is something that we started early on in our relationship and that’s something we call ‘checking in’ and it’s a real simple exercise- once every three or four weeks we sit down and we just check in with each other and that’s an opportunity for us to share what’s going on that’s good in the relationship and maybe some things that need a little bit of work. But what it does is it’s a very proactive move because it prevents major blowups from happening.”

Candace: And as for your hit series “Giuliana and Bill”, will there be a season five?
Giuliana Rancic: “We’re actually talking about that right now; so we’ve already shot a little bit because we’re opening up a restaurant in Chicago in January. So we’ve been shooting all those scenes, so it’s been an amazing run; it really has been. And this show has helped a lot of people with their journey trying to have a baby, since we’re talking a lot publicly about our journey to have a baby. So it’s just wonderful to be part of a reality show that’s not scandalous; that’s not controversial in the wrong ways. I mean this is a really wholesome great show and this past season got its highest ratings ever which is pretty incredible.”
Candace: Well, that’s amazing! I also heard that you started a new fashion line.
Giuliana Rancic: “That’s right. I’m actually working on it right now, it’ll be out-“
Bill Rancic: “Fashionista!”
Giuliana Rancic: “The fashionista; it’ll be out in February, so I’ve been working hard. Bill actually gives me some advice too; he’s good. Like he doesn’t take any time to debate anything. Like you show him something and he goes ‘I hate it” and you show him something ‘I love it’ and I always agree with what he says. It’s pretty incredible. He has a good eye.”
Bill Rancic: “It’s like when you buy art; you’ve just got to trust your gut.”
Giuliana Rancic: “That’s true.”
Candace: Oh absolutely, that’s the way to be. Honesty is the best policy!
Candace: I spoke with you (Giuliana) in March and you gave me advice on the DDF, and I absolutely love it!
Giuliana Rancic: “Yeah. Oh good, I’m so glad you like it. Okay, good; see I know what I’m talking about.”
Candace: You do know what you’re talking about.
Giuliana Rancic: “You know I don’t talk much about politics, that sort of thing. Because as you know-“
Bill Rancic: “Thank God.” (laughing)
Giuliana Rancic: “On the news I’m talking about Britney Spears, so I don’t want to try to like I-“
Bill Rancic: “She’s going to talk about the 9-9-9 plan.”
Giuliana Rancic: “Yeah, I love the 9-9-9 plan. But anyways, aside from that; I definitely do take great pride in being able to share advice when it comes to beauty products and fashion, that sort of thing. I love giving, especially women that information.”

Candace: Well, thank you. Do you guys have any additional tips or information you’d like to share this morning?
Bill Rancic: “Well, we certainly want to encourage everyone to go to the NIVEA; to NIVEA’s facebook page and submit their story because we know firsthand that last year was truly the opportunity of a lifetime for us and we’re hoping to share that opportunity with someone else because there is no better way to bring in the New Year than to be on that NIVEA Kiss stage, it is spectacular.”
Candace: On Monday, just a few days after my interview with Giuliana and Bill Rancic, Giuliana disclosed on NBC’s “Today” show that she had recently been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. I just want to take a moment to wish Giuliana a healthy and speedy recovery. She is truly a remarkable person with a great personality, strength, courage and determination. My thoughts and prayers are with the Rancic’s and their extended families, and of course that new baby that we know will be here in the near future! 🙂
Beauty Expert, Jenn Falik shares the top red carpet beauty and hair trends from Sunday night's Emmy Awards and how you can recreate them! Image via JennFalik.com
Candace: What were some of your favorite looks from Sunday night's Emmys?
Jenn Falik:"I thought that the hair at the Emmys was gorgeous. I was lucky to host an Emmy viewing party with Wella Professional and got to hang out with their celebrity stylists and talk about the hair as we were seeing it. The hot topic of conversation was color- Gretchen Mol with her buttery blond hair; we saw a lot of pastel undertones. Nina Dobrev and Emily Blunt- rich brunettes; they all use Wella Professional styling products for the big night. And you can go to your colorist and ask them to use Wella color. And on a daily basis I think taking care of your hair; all these celebrities know that they need to do it for their hair to look good for those big nights, Wella's Enrich line is great because it's hydrating. It's shampoo, conditioner, treatment are easy to follow and keeps your hair really shiny but still voluminous. Any style that we saw on the red carpet really requires that your hair have volume. The Velvet Amplifier hair primer is also a great final step before you even start styling, it improves how your hair responds to products, and as far as the styles go that we saw; specific styles, Evan Rachel Wood with her edgy finger-wave; she just cut her hair really short, you go to use a product cocktail to get a look like this, really any look that we saw on the red carpet. It's not just one product, it's usually a blend of 3,4,5 that these stylists put together. Sebastian Professional Potion 9 is a great first step, it's lightweight, it's going to keep your hair conditioned and manageable as you style. Then for Evan Rachel Wood's you need a strong hold gel like Gel Forte. It has a little shimmer in it so your hair looks extra healthy. And Professional Shaper Plus+ is a backstage red carpet favorite for that final touch of hairspray before you walk out the door, even for a breezier style like Jennifer Carpenter from Dexter; she had textured tresses. You'll still use a product- Cocktail Potion 9 Lite, then Sebastian Professionals Whip Cream is great for holding those nice waves. Hair spray's still key even if you don't want your hair to look like it's done, and you need to put some hairspray in there to keep the look the way you want it- so you go with the Shaper Lite there. It gives you hold but it still gives you movement and with a look like what Jennifer Carpenter did, movement is key. It's all about swishing your hair around on that red carpet which to really get the full effect."
Candace: What about beauty trends?
JF: "The makeup was really minimal on the red carpet. I think it was such a hot day in LA that no one wanted to pile on the foundation, so skin has to be perfect. And Giuliana Rancic who knows what looks good on the red carpet, as she spends many hours on that red carpet at every award show; she loves DDF's Amplifying Elixir. It's a pre moisturizing treatment with a potent blend of botanicals; use it twice a day, it's going to boost your hydration up to 70%. Use it post cleansing and pre moisturizing. With any skincare regimen, it doesn't matter what other products you use, putting this into your skincare routine will help you to get red carpet ready."
Candace: Do you have any additional tips or information you'd like to share?
JF: "For more information on Wella products you can follow them on twitter at WellaHairUSA and for more details on all the things we talked about today and all the celeb looks, you can go to LifeMinute.TV."
