“If you can dream it, you can do it.” Walt Disney
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of sharing one of the most viral videos YouTube has ever seen! Yes, I’m talking about legendary rapper Snoop Dogg’s “Pocket It Like It’s Hot” video with comedian Andy Milonakis, WWE Superstar Brodus Clay, YouTube rapper Destorm and Herbie Hot Pocket. And according to renowned stand up comedian and 30 Rock star Judah Friedlander, he is the reason this video went viral. He just released a response video where he is claiming to have directed it, and yesterday I had the honor of speaking with him on this very topic, as well as his stand for President, the hats he creates, what his plans are after 30 Rock, and much more.
Judah Friedlander: “Yeah, a lot of people don’t know that. Thanks for realizing that. I can tell you know about music, and everything. And food”
Judah Friedlander: “I directed the video, and the video’s already gotten millions of hits on YouTube. I just released a response video to it where I talk about where it was made. I also play a ninja and play ping pong while doing the whole commentary.”
Judah Friedlander: “Just Hot Pockets. It’s actually the only thing I’ve ever eaten in my whole life.”
Judah Friedlander: “Yeah, for years America was eating – in the 1940’s people were just eating Cold Pockets, and then I came along and I was like ‘hey, let’s heat this up’. And people were like ‘WOW, this is even more amazing’. That’s what turned around World War II actually.”
Judah Friedlander: “It was pretty cool. He’s a karate student of mine. This time we decided to create a video. It was pretty cool stuff.”
Judah Friedlander: “No, he’s banned from my karate classes.”
Judah Friedlander: “I don’t want to talk about it. The kid’s got an attitude problem.”
Judah Friedlander: “Well, first of all, I’m not running for President, I’m standing for President. Running means you’re scared – you’re running away from a problem. I’m standing for America. I’m going to make this country better.”
Judah Friedlander: “No, no VP. Or if I have a VP it doesn’t matter. First thing I’m going to do when I get in office, I’m going to karate kick the Vice President in the face and let him know who runs this country. We don’t need a backup leader, we need a winner.”
Judah Friedlander: “Well, I do own lice and sometimes I rent them out to people. I don’t have them on my head but I have some in case anyone wants them. I was working with a friend of mine at the Boston Comedy Festival earlier this year – Joey Carroll, he was driving me around and he was telling me how he had to make a semi-legal turn, and I was like ‘I don’t think that’s a real turn. I think a semi-legal turn is an illegal turn. So, I kind of liked that. That hat was a shout out to him.”
Judah Friedlander: “Well, I’m currently working on a couple of possible TV projects and I have a few movies coming out. I’m always doing stand up in New York City, as well as touring nationally and in Canada, and Europe, and I have some in Asia coming up, so I’m going all over the world.
I have some stand up albums, and a concert movie coming out next year too. ”

Candace Rose: The thought of actually completing a DIY project can be overwhelming for those of us who are beginners. Is there hope for us?
Pat Simpson: “Of course there is. There’s hope for me, there’s hope for you! DIY projects can be overwhelming, just start small. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. The main thing is do research, do your homework first. Start with a smaller project and work your way up. If it’s electrical or plumbing, you may want to stay away from that, but at least if you do your homework you’ll know what to expect when the electrician comes in and when the plumber comes in. So start small and work your way big.”
Candace Rose: What would be a good project for beginners?
Pat Simpson: “Well, this time of year because it is Energy Awareness Month, and it is almost wintertime – we’re right around the corner, I think you can probably make your home more energy efficient and keep that warm air inside, use less energy and think green while you’re doing this. Now there’s a lot of heat that escapes from your home up through your pull down staircase. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with this product or not but this is from Duck brand it’s called the Attic Stairway Cover. What this is, is this is an insulated fabric and literally within a few seconds of assembly it creates a dome. You take this dome into the attic, you set it right over the opening where your stairs pull down and it keeps all of that warm air from escaping through that opening. Even when the stairs are closed, the heat will still go through. It keeps the heat in your house instead of in the attic where it doesn’t belong. Again, the Attic Stairway Cover from Duct brand.”
Candace Rose: Is there anything else we can do to keep warm air in and cold air out?
Pat Simpson: “We always look for new products that are very innovative and has a WOW factor to it, well we found it with this product – this is Roxul batt insulation (see video above). It’s made from rocks. It’s really incredible how they do this, they melt the rocks, they create a molten lava, then they spin it – it’s very similar to what you would do to cotton candy, and it creates the batt insulation. It’s fire resistant, it’s water repellent, it can be used on ceilings and in walls, it’s very affordable, and it’s available at Lowes and Home Depot (the box stores). It’s easily accessible too. It doesn’t itch like the old fiberglass insulation, so you don’t have that same scratching when you’re installing it. So look for that by name as well, it’s called Roxul.”
Candace Rose: Can we do anything else to make our home look great and still be as green as possible?
Pat Simpson: “You can. Lighting will do a lot for your house, and you can save energy by using the right kind of lights. Here’s an example, this is an incandescent light bulb (see video above) you want to get rid of these, Candace and replace them with these – this is a CFL, a compact fluorescent light and they’re going to use less energy and keeping your power bill lower. They have instant on – they don’t flicker anymore like they used to, and they come in a variety of colors. They’re very efficient lighting as well, it throws the light better and they come in different power levels. So replace the old incandescent with the CFL and you’re going to save money on the power bill and use a lot less energy too.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share?
Pat Simpson: “Well you can go to the websites that we look at regularly, and we visit regularly, and it’ll cover these products and a whole lot more. If you go to DIYwithRoxul.com, and also DuckBrand.com you’ll find out about all of these and a whole lot more.”

America’s Got Talent host, new father, philanthropist and Children’s Miracle Network ambassador, Nick Cannon has struggled with his own health issues since early 2012, but that didn’t stop him from hosting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals 2012 Medals Ceremony in Orlando, Florida on Friday, September 21st. The event which honored ‘Champion’ kids from every state, also included performances by Miss America 2012 and Children’s Miracle Network National Ambassador Laura Kaeppeler, and pop star Jordin Sparks.
CMN host Nick Cannon was taught at an early age to give back to others by his grandmother who instilled the value “to whom much is given, much is required”, and he plans on teaching his young children Monroe and Moroccan Scott to give back to those less fortunate as well. The host has never made it a priority to publicize his countless visits to children’s hospitals, and stated that “The ‘Champion’ for the Children’s Miracle Networks Hospitals are amazing because they’re ambassadors or even representatives from each state and province coming and representing the millions of kids that the Children’s Miracle Network help every single year. They’re more than just kids that maybe won something, that’s why we want to call them Champions, because they’re continuing to do work, they’re continuing to be fighters and it’s going to be amazing to see them walk across the stage.”
As an added bonus the ‘Champions’ who will become yearlong ambassadors for their local hospital, were given a free subscription to Kuboo.com, a safe online community for kids age 4 to 11, and were also treated to a visit to the White House to meet President and commander in chief Barack Obama, and ended with a chartered flight to Disney World by Delta Airlines.
