Celebrity Interview: Gretchen Rossi of The Real Housewives of Orange County

I recently had the chance to sit down with America's favorite housewife of Orange County, Gretchen Rossi to go over her favorite health, fitness and fashion tips for summer and of course what you can expect to see next season on "The Real Housewives of Orange County," if indeed there is a season seven!

Gretchen Rossi Interview Candace Rose Real Housewives of Orange CountyGretchen Rossi of "The Real Housewives of Orange County"

Candace Rose: What can we do to get fit and trim this summer?

Gretchen Rossi: "Well, there's definitely a lot of tips that I have but the first and foremost is obviously exercise. Exercise is really important; daily activities – anything from jumping on your beach cruiser or your bicycle to going for a hike, to taking a walk along the beach. I have two little dogs, so I get to go to the park a lot with them and when I'm at the park I'll do a couple laps or I'll do a couple sets of lunges, so that really keeps me active every day. However, I don't have time to go to the gym for two hours at a time anymore, so I have learned a little trick and I put weights all around my house (5 to 10-lb weights) and throughout my day if I have 10 minutes here or 10 minutes there I literally pick up my weights and I do a set of bicep curls or my shoulder presses or I do push ups; or instead of just sitting on the couch and watching tv I'll do my crunches or squats and that's really the way that I've been able to help stay in shape without having to commit two hours to the gym every day."

CR: How about when it comes to fashion and style? What are some universal tips that every woman needs?

GR: "Well, fashion and style really comes down to the individual. It comes to what they look and feel best in. If you aren't confident in the way that you feel and look in something it's going to show all over your face and then you're not going to look sexy, so it really depends on the person. However, when it comes to swimsuit season, you know for the women that have a little bit of problem areas or are a little bit more self conscious, you can always find a really pretty wrap. You can find a sheer wrap so that you can still get some color through that, but you don't have to come prancing out in a two piece bikini. You know even finding a sandal that has a slight heel or buying a wedge or something can help elongate your legs and make you feel a little bit sexier in your bikini as well. A spray tan always helps you look so much better and gives you that kind of golden glow for the summer and it helps camouflage cellulite, so that's always a good thing as well.

And then my final trick for the summer has been the supplements that I've been taking, which is Thermogenic Push Female, and it's been so beneficial to my daily routine because at about 3 o'clock where most people will go for a coffee break when you're tired and you're worn down from all the morning activities, I actually reach for my supplement and it helps boost my energy levels and it helps suppress my appetite which all of us women out there love. It just kind of gets me that extra boost to get through the day or get through my afternoon workout. It's really just a great supplement that you can add to your daily routine. Again it's not a diet pill which is why I love the product and it's something that I view as like taking a multivitamin every day. I started out taking one in the morning and one in the afternoon, then I worked up to the recommended dosage on the bottle, I would recommend that for everybody out there. Obviously, talk to your doctor before you take any supplement or medications and make sure if it's right for you and your lifestyle. I would suggest to any woman out there that wants that little extra edge or wants to look and feel great this summer or start to get in better shape that they should give it a try, I think they'll be very pleased with it."

CR: I love that your beauty and tanning products are cost effective so everyone can afford them. What inspired your line?

GR: "You know, my line was really inspired from the fans. I have had so many requests about how I look, my fashion and my hair to my makeup, to my fitness tips; so I really only put anything out there that I believe in 100%. I only endorse any product that I believe in 100% that I've tried myself and as far as the makeup and the tanning products, the fans actually asked for that. They said 'there's not great makeup out there that's at an affordable price' and so I made those things available at affordable prices, and you can it all on my website at GretchenChristine.com."

CR: Speaking of your fans, have you started filming season seven of "The Real Housewives of Orange County?"

Gr: "You know, we have not started filming; however there's rumors that there's definitely going to be a season seven, so I won't be surprised one bit if there is; and obviously for my life I'm continuing to build and grow my businesses and expand them. And obviously my relationship with Slade is definitely something that's on the front burner that you'll continue to go along that journey with me as well, if there's a season seven."

CR: Where can viewers go for more information?

GR: "For more information for health and beauty tips and tricks you can go to GretchenChristine.com; Thermogenic Push Female, you can find at your local GNC."

CR: Well, thank you so much, Gretchen. Have a great afternoon!

GR: "Thank you, you too, Candace."

A Cold Rural Sunday….

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you…. In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself. ~Ruth Stout

First Time World Series Champions, OUR San Francisco Giants!

I am not going to lie, I was not just secretly hoping, I was very vocally hoping for a New York Yankees/San Francisco Giants World Series. Three years ago I attended the first series between the Yanks and Gigantes in SF since they played in 1962 and it is something I will never forget. I was in awe seeing many Yankee and Giants greats of years past and of course watching Roger Clemens pitch to Barry Bonds, which is something you don't see on a daily basis. Well, my dream of a Yankees/Giants World Series didn't come true, but my dream that the San Francisco Giants would win their first World Series Championship since moving to SF did. The last World Series won by the Giants took place on October 2, 1954, back when they were the New York Giants. Four years later (1958) they moved across the country to San Fran and hadn't won a World Championship since.

I remember the Battle of the Bay series between the Giants and the Oakland A's in 1989 as if it was yesterday. We were celebrating my grandma's 69th birthday when the big Loma Prieta earthquake hit, just two hours away and we felt it. The Giants succumbed to the Athletics in that series, and despite making it to the World Series again in 2002, they were still waiting for their big win.

To think twenty one years later, and just 15 days after her 90th birthday, my grandmother was watching, we were all watching, and they won. WOW. If only Pitcher, Tim Lincecum knew that this sweet little old lady, my grandmother that is, thinks he needs to cut his hair (we heard it throughout the game, loud and clear.) Mark my word, if she was well enough to go to the Ticker parade on Wednesday, she'd be right there to tell him that too. Congratulations to my San Francisco Giants on an outstanding season and winning their first World Series since moving to the west coast! Here's to many, many more!

Candace Rose Photography: Floral Friday

It never fails I take pictures of the garden over the spring and summer and don’t touch or edit them for months. I’m trying to get better about this, and spent a good few hours picking/choosing and editing Thursday night. I love coming up with different ways to showcase the beautiful flowers that surround me, which led me to bring my new beach cruiser (I have yet to ride…shame, shame!) out of the garage and into the hydrangeas. I don’t know how I feel about these photos just yet, but it was fun to experiment!

Zinnias, Sunflowers and more! This is what the corner of my driveway (edge of the lawn) looks like!
