The apartment industry is growing exponentially. In fact, it contributes $1.3 trillion dollars to the U.S. economy annually. According to Stephanie Puryear Helling (of Real Estate Strategic Services and President of the National Apartment Association Education Institute) “11 million more people are renting apartment homes today than just a decade ago.” Everyone from millennials to generation Xers, baby boomers, their parents and more are choosing to live in apartments for many different reasons. This is one trend that is here to stay!

Stephanie Puryear Helling of Real Estate Strategic Services and President of the National Apartment Association Education Institute and Jeremy Lawson, Reputation Manager for Fogelman Management joined me for an interview this week to share what’s behind the growing number of renters. They discussed who the typical renter is, what the apartment boom means for the economy and how it will impact jobs. Stephanie and Jeremy also dished on career opportunities in the apartment industry.
