Going to the dentist was terrifying for me as a kid. Getting a shot of novocaine to fill cavities or to pull out a tooth (I had four pulled in one day on a few occasions) left me scared and hoping I didn’t have to spend another Saturday in the dentist chair. Thankfully, technology has improved and it’s not as scary for kids to go to the dentist. There’s actually a new way to stop the growth of kids’ cavities easily and without pain! American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry President, Dr. Jade Miller of nearby Reno, Nevada was kind enough to join me for an interview this week to discuss this amazing new innovation that will help children prevent the growth of cavities.
During our interview Dr. Jade Miller also discussed some of the primary culprits in childhood tooth decay and oral health issues such as soda and a few other unhealthy beverages. He shared the dangers of tooth decay in children, whether or not he believes there’s a gap between parental knowledge about kids’ dental issues and action, and much more.
Since I was so scared to go the dentist as a kid, I felt it was important to not only share the news of this amazing new innovation that will stop the growth of kids cavities, but I made sure to ask, Dr. Jade Miller if there are other steps parents can take to ensure their children don’t find going to the dentist a negative experience. As always, Dr. Miller shared a wealth of amazing information that we can all use.
