Christmas Eve was always exciting for my brother and I growing up. We couldn’t wait to open up our packages! My favorites have to be Barbie’s Malibu Townhouse, her 57 Chevy that looked just like my uncle’s and of course her ice cream parlor where I could make real homemade vanilla ice cream. Let’s not forget about the Roller Blades! I loved watching figure skating and thought I could attempt a triple axle. Big mistake! I fell right on my arm on my grandparents driveway. Thankfully I was wearing a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads, so nothing was broken, but I think it was at that point my parents decided they were going to start shopping for clothes instead of toys for Christmas!
It’s no secret that the holidays are one of the most popular times of the year to shop for toys for kids. There are so many fun and amazing toys on the market right now, it can be overwhelming knowing what’s age appropriate and what isn’t. One thing is for sure, it’s very important when buying skateboards, skates, scooters and bicycles to also include a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads to ensure if your child does fall, he or she isn’t seriously injured.
When it comes to shopping for the perfect holiday gift for small children, it’s best to not buy them anything with small parts as young kids like to put things in their mouths (so do pets…as a “dog mom” I had to share).
