This morning on the Today show, Mark Bittman, chef and author of “How to Bake Everything” stopped by to show Matt Lauer (and all of us at home!) how to make simple sugar cookies that can be customized in many ways, including topped with icing or dipped in chocolate.

To make his simple sugar cookies, chef Mark Bittman mentioned that you will need butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt, coarse sugar, (a food processor or a stand mixer) a cookie cutter.
