Candace Rose: 2016 will be here before we know it. What are some resolutions that women should be making this year?

Didi Gluck: “It sounds kind of funny to be talking about resolutions now, but it’s a very good idea to start making those resolutions now. Get out ahead of them so you don’t feel this tremendous pressure on January 1st, so you actually feel a difference by January 1st and you’ll want to stick with your resolutions.

The first resolution that I would recommend is getting yourself on a good skincare regimen. By good, I just mean be committed to it and be consistent with it. That means you want to be cleansing every night, making sure you’re getting off all of your makeup, exfoliating up to three times a week and using moisturizer after you cleans (that’s morning and night).

If anti-aging is your concern specifically, I would highly recommend a night cream with retinol in it. Retinol is one of the most effective ingredients to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and it’s no accidents that it’s also the number one dermatologist recommended cosmetic anti-ager. One of the night creams with retinol that I like to recommend at the magazine is Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle night cream. What you need to know about retinol is not retinols are created equal. How effective they are depends on the concentration of retinol in the product and the way it’s packaged. This particular retinol cream has an exclusive combination or pure retinol and a mineral complex. The cream has been actually shown to smooth wrinkles and lines in just four weeks. Again, imagine if you start now how good that will be through the holiday season. Their blend of retinol is also up to two times stronger than imitators, which is based off of vitro Retinol activity in this product which is just a long way of saying it is the real deal. It’s also packaged in a special aluminum tube that keeps the retinol protected from light and air and keeps it stable. I for one know that I will be finally committing to using retinol! I know that the company Roc has inviting women to jumpstart their resolutions too by going to RocRetinolResolutions.com. If you go before November 30th, you can also enter a fun sweepstakes. You can also find the cream for $22 at Walmart.”

Candace Rose: Are there any other resolutions that women should be making?

Didi Gluck: “Absolutely! Again, I would recommend making them now while things are still quiet. One of the ones that we talk about the most at the magazine in our January issue is about resolving to be healthier this year. As we all by now, that’s a matter of both diet and exercise changes. They don’t need to be big daunting changes. The message here is that little changes really do make a difference. Again, like skincare, consistency and commitment are key, so that means finally cleaning up your diet. Doing all of those things that you know you should be doing but commit to doing it and really follow through. That means you want to incorporate more lean protein into your diet, more leafy greens and try and clear out to the extent you can – fried food, processed food, things with extra sugar and salt in them. Ditto exercise.

This might not be the year that you run a marathon, that might be too lofty of a goal, but why not say I’m going to get 20 minutes of movement that I wasn’t getting before every day. Never discount the power of little changes with things like taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator or walking to do your errands instead of jumping in the car, these things over time really add up.”

Candace Rose: Is there anything else that we can do to look and feel our best for the holiday season and in 2016?

Didi Gluck: “Absolutely! Here’s an easy one, this one is very easy and it’s a one time deal…nothing that you need to commit to for long term – clean out your makeup bag. People don’t think to do this, but you should do this probably once a year, and why not now? Most makeup artists and granted, we don’t use our makeup brushes as much as makeup artists but they recommend washing your brushes at least once a month. I don’t know about you but my makeup brushes do not get washed once a month…but once a year I can commit to doing that. You can use just dish soap, rinse them and them flat to dry. That will be so much better for your skin. You’re not spreading oil and bacteria on your face and then you know those little bits and bobs of makeup that come off in your makeup bag over the year, you dig into your bag to get something and they end up under your nails, like clean that up! Once a year this is absolutely doable and restock those items that you really like, so you don’t find yourself in a pinch running out…and clean out the stuff that you haven’t used.”

Candace Rose: Well, thank you so much, Didi! Where can we go for more information?

Didi Gluck: “You can go to More.com or pick up the current issue on newsstands.”
