Today Nutritionist Joy Bauer and Today Fitness Correspondent Jenna Wolfe Help Three Fans Get Healthy And In Shape For The New Year

Believe it or not but there are only 16 weeks until we ring in 2016! If you’re looking to get in shape for the holidays and the new year, but aren’t sure how to do so, you’re in luck. Today’s Nutritionist Joy Bauer and Today’s Fitness Correspondent, Jenna Wolfe have the solution! They stopped by the Today show this morning to help three hard working men and women (Mary Jean, Ken and Rachel) get back into shape.

Today Nutritionist, Joy Bauer stated that by getting healthy and in shape, you’ll start noticing perks like “lowering cholesterol, blood pressure, steadying their blood sugars”. She also shared a tip that we can all use and that’s “every day prior to lunch and dinner you’re going to front load with vegetables – it can be soup, it can be salad, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes (one cup of vegetables prior to lunch and dinner).” Joy Bauer mentioned that the reason you want to do so is because vegetables are “loaded with fiber and water, so they’re going to expand in your stomach as you eat them, and it’s going to take the edge off your hunger and you’re going to eat less.”

Today Fitness Correspondent, Jenna Wolfe talked to Mary Jean, Ken and Rachel about accountability and why it’s so important. She told them that “there’s no cheating involved. I want you to be honest, I want you to be true to yourself.” The three were all given fitness trackers that will monitor their “steps, calories and sleep.” PS: If you’re looking to start this journey with them, you’ll need to take 7,000 steps a day, do chair exercises (Jenna demonstrates in the video below).
