Candace Rose: With back to school season nearly officially here, what should parents be looking out for?

Raina Seitel: “It’s amazing that back to school is almost here, but first up we want to make those t0-do lists so we’re not overbuying and we’re staying on budget. Also, get your kids in on the action so they have something to look forward to – they’re picking out their own backpack, their own lunchbox they want to show off in front of their friends on their first day to get them in the groove.

First up on the list today is Tracfone. It’s great for both parents and kids. It’s easy, convenient and inexpensive. Tracfone has partnered with Nickelodeon, and what that means is they’ve created this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle bundle pack – you get an LG Sunrise smartphone, the Ninja Turtle app, the shell case, and parents get the NQ Family Guardian app, which means they can monitor what their kids are doing on the phone and where they are at all times which is so important this day and age. It’s available at Target and Walmart, and also online at

Candace, when it comes to back to school we often send our kids to the pediatrician for a checkup, we should do the same thing when it comes to the eye doctor and really establish a one on one relationship. It’s super important – one out of six kids globally have visual issues, so it’s important that we focus on our kids eyes to make sure that they are seeing correctly, so that they can learn correctly. If your child does need glasses, I have the perfect glasses for them – Kids by Safilo eyeglass collection is an Italian based company. They have thought of every single detail, they’ve partnered with the Italian society of Pediatric Ophthalmology. They’ve taken a scientific approach, which means that they’ve actually studied children and what kids need, and what kids play so it’s really great. They’re comfortable, they’re durable, and of course they look great on our kids.

Speaking of glasses, we can’t forget about sunglasses because sunglasses are actually just as important as sunscreen. Those rays are really hot on our kids delicate eyes, so Polaroid polarized sunglasses have taken the guesswork out of it for parents, they’re really great – 100% UV protection, they eliminate the glare, they filter out those harmful UV rays because kids eyes are three times more susceptible, so we¬†want to protect those eyes. You can find the glasses and the sunglasses at, and of course at your eye care professional.

Finally, Candace, we can’t forget about fashion when it comes to back to school. Nautica has some great options for both boys and girls. In front of me I have some little guys options because I have one of those at home. I love these pull up joggers (please see video above for details)! They’re great in khaki. You don’t have to worry about the zipper or the snap, they’re really easy to wear and easy to put on. I’ve partnered that with a classic long sleeve button down shirt by Nautica – lots of fall colors, so very much on trend there. When it comes to the chillier months, you want to just throw on a really cool on-trend zip up hoodie like this one by Nautica, it’s striped and cute, keeping your kids comfortable and fashionable at the same time. All of these looks available at”

Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share with us?

Raina Seitel: “I think it really comes down to getting your kids into the routine before day one of school, so start winding them down to an earlier bedtime. A lot of kids go to bed later because it’s summer and the light stays out longer, but lets try and get them back to their school routine before day one, so that it’s an easy transition.”

Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information on everything you mentioned?

Raina Seitel: “I’m going to tweet about all of this @RainaSeitel.”
