I truly believe in the miracle of food. As someone who has been plagued by migraine headaches for over five years, I definitely know if something I eat will either help or hinder the debilitating pain I already feel. Since purchasing a Vitamix and making various drinks that call for ginger root, I’ve come to love ginger and use it to make ginger tea when I’m feel nauseous or not feeling too great in general. This morning on the Today show, Today nutritionist Joy Bauer stopped by the program to chat with Al Roker and Matt Lauer just how foods can help us feel better and fight inflammation, which is a big problem for those of us plagued by migraines.

I was excited to learn that Joy Bauer also recommends ginger to fight inflammation, and she showed Al Roker how to make a tasty ginger green tea using ginger root and green tea. Joy also dished how tart cherries can help athletes recover quicker and ease aches and pains. According to Ms. Joy Bauer, you can buy tart cherry juice in stores, just make sure you get one with no added sugar! She added ginger to this drink,which I LOVE! PS: If you suffer from migraines, Joy Bauer recommends white potatoes and sweet potato fries because they contain magnesium – score! I love potatoes and needed another reason to consume them more often. 🙂
