Fitness Specialist and Author Dr. Phoenyx Austin Shares Peak Wellness Tips for Spring 2015 with Candace Rose!

With the official first day of spring fast approaching and bikini season just months away, now is the time to start getting in shape and adopt a health routine. Fitness specialist and author, Dr. Phoenyx Austin joined me for an interview this week to share the secret to adopting a healthy fitness routine, how we can all make small changes that won’t overwhelm us, and the benefits of fasted training.

Candace Rose: Where is the best place to start when adopting a healthy routine?

Dr. Phoenyx Austin: “The first thing we want to do is we want to exercise first thing in the morning. I know what you’re thinking, I don’t have time to exercise for an hour every morning because I love to push that snooze button. Well, here’s the thing, research has shown that in as little as seven to 15 minutes of exercise each day doing things like high intensity interval training or high intensity workouts like sprinting, burpees, or my personal favorite – jumping rope, you can actually burn more calories than if you did long duration exercise.

With that said, with more intense exercise, more regular exercise you may experience some muscle soreness. In fact, a recent poll of women showed that many women do experience daily aches and pains, and these women also admitted that despite feeling these pains they’re not likely to take something until the pain gets unbearable. Instead of waiting that long until symptoms get that bad, you can use a natural option like Arnicare Gel. Not a lot of people know about this because they’re used to hearing that you should eat something before you exercise, but there are tons of studies that show that fasted training – this is exercising on an empty stomach is actually better at burning body fat and keeping the weight off. Try fasted training or fasted cardio, and that is definitely a fitness tip that I’ve given to people and they absolutely love once they see the results.”
