Have you ever tried cutting out your favorite snacks only to end up overindulging just a few days later? I know I have, and it definitely did not work out well at all. With the new year upon us, and many of us making difficult resolutions that we know we’ll have a hard time keeping, lifestyle expert, Valerie Greenberg joined me for an interview this morning to dish on how we can start the new year, new you off right and still enjoy our favorite foods and drinks.
Candace Rose: How can we start the new year off on the right foot?
Valerie Greenberg: “Well, I’m so glad you asked that because it’s really important that we select our snacks in a really careful manner, that we don’t overindulge and that we choose a fitness plan that is perfect for us.”
Candace Rose: How can we continue to enjoy our favorite flavors and keep our waistlines in check?
Valerie Greenberg: “Well, what happens is during the new year the most common resolution that people make is to get fit and in shape. In doing that they cut out all the things that they love most and that’s exactly what you want to avoid because it’ll make you overindulge. It’s about moderation and portion control. It’s simple, if you like soda, try it in smaller portions and that’s why these Coca Cola mini cans are absolutely perfect. They come in our favorite flavors like Classic Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite and Coke Zero and will be friendly to our waistline in that size of a can.”
Candace Rose: After indulging on holiday meals, what’s a good idea for making the right meal choices?
Valerie Greenberg: “Well, Jimmy Dean Delights offers busy moms a delicious and great way to start the day without any guilt. All their ingredients are really high quality and they offer extremely flavorful but low calorie options including their breakfast bowls and breakfast sandwiches that are under 300 calories and they are super easy to prepare! You just pop them in the microwave and you can enjoy.
If you’re an eggs person, Candi, all you have to do is try the Jimmy Dean Delights fully cooked links and patties that are less than 130 calories per serving. They’re made of 100% chicken sausage, and a good source of protein. You can find the links and patties in the refrigerated section of your grocery store. You can find the bowls and sandwiches in the frozen section of your grocery store.”
Candace Rose: What can we do to take that first step towards change this year?
Valerie Greenberg: “Well, I can’t get to Planet Fitness soon enough because for $10 a month you can become a member of this wonderful club facility. They offer brand name equipment when it comes to cardio and strength training. They also offer a judgment free zone, so you won’t be intimidated no matter what your fitness goals are.
