It’s hard to believe we’re just days away from Super Bowl XLIX (Super Bowl 49)! Whether you’re rooting for the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks or just watching the game for the hilarious commercials and halftime show, the Super Bowl is the perfect time to throw a fun party with your family and friends. Earlier this morning entertaining expert, Justine Santaniello joined me for an interview to share the secret to throwing the perfect party with delicious food just in time for the big game on Sunday, February 1st!
Candace Rose: With the Super Bowl just days away, do you have any party tips to share with us?
Justine Santaniello: “I actually have a statistic for you that’s pretty overwhelming. Did you know that the average big game party with 30 guests will create 80 pounds of waste? That is a huge number, so Unilever Project Sunlight is an initiative that is encouraging people to live more sustainably and they’ve created an online quiz to see how eco friendly you are. They even have some easy tips there on how you can go green for the big games. For example, instead of ordering in pizza with cardboard boxes that can’t be recycled, you can make your own homemade chipotle chicken pizza. You can go to GreenTheGame.com, they have lots of tips for you to go green this Sunday because really, every small act helps.”
Candace Rose: What are some of your favorite party foods?
Justine Santaniello: “When it comes to the snacks you can never go wrong with chips and dip. We have Pringles Tortillas. These are crunchy corn tortilla chips in that iconic Pringles shape – really delicious flavor on their own. You don’t need a dip even. They come in all these varieties – Zesty Salsa is definitely my favorite and so easy to serve.
When it comes to the main meal you want that to be easy as well. You’re going to score big if you serve wings. Here we have SONIC Drive-In Juicy Crispy Boneless Chicken Wings. We have them in buffalo, Asian sweet chili, barbecue. The sauces have really bold flavor so you’re going to get chipotle and cayenne and the buffalo, fresh ginger and lemongrass in the Asian sweet chili. You can even order Sonic’s flavor feast where you’re going to get 24 wings in two flavors, a family size side dish, and four medium drinks. The best part is you don’t have to cook!”
Candace Rose: Is there anything else that we can do to make entertaining easier?
Justine Santaniello: “You want to keep things streamlined in the kitchen. You want to have the right tools on hand, so I want you to check out this Whirlpool Double Drawer French Door refrigerator. It has expertly designed storage space to store all your big game foods like a freezer pizza pocket, extra gallon door storage and two drawers – one with five different temperature settings and one with FreshFlow produce preserver for your fruits and veggies. I definitely recommend serving some fresh fruit for dessert after you’ve eaten all day long.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share with us?
Justine Santaniello: “When it comes to the decor for the party, don’t underestimate your local party store, they’re going to make it really easy for you with everything under one roof. Worst case scenario, you go with your team’s colors, make it really simple and you’re done!”
Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information?
Justine Santaniello: “You can go to InTheNews.tv.”
