I never really thought of myself as a “crafty” person until last year when I took it upon myself to make some fun Christmas inspired swags and wreaths made with fresh pine from my yard. It was at that point I became HOOKED and I’ve never looked back.
December of 2014 has been a very busy month professionally for me, and as of today I can finally breathe a bit and get into the holiday/Christmas spirit. I can’t wait to finally decorate for the holidays and was so excited to see the fun DIY projects celebrity designer Lonni Paul shared on the Today show with co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.
Lonni Paul is a renowned celebrity designer, she has decorated the homes of our friend Giuliana Rancic, actress Melissa Joan Hart and the one and only, Robert Downey, Jr. Ms. Paul shared some fun DIY projects on the Friday, December 19th episode of the “Today” show that anyone can complete whether you’re a novice or master crafter!
Be sure to watch the video below to learn how to make the gorgeous festive holiday DIY projects that celebrity designer Lonni Paul, Kathie Lee Gifford and Kotb made on the “Today” show. Don’t forget to scroll down to check out the details/project materials!
Charming holiday chairs: Cover your chairs with decorative cloth, ribbon, and Christmas ornaments with a festive feel!
Lonni bought a roll of jute, rolled it over the back, added a ribbon, twisted it around the back of the chair. She then placed ornaments and a bell on the ribbon. Love this look, it’s both festive and gorgeous! Your guests will love it.

Ornament name tags
Do you have any leftover ornaments? If you’re entertaining guests over the holidays, Lonni Paul shared a fun and festive name tag idea using Christmas ornaments that is adorable and your friends and family will love. You can buy the name tags made already or just make them yourself. Lonni got the silver ornaments shown at one of our favorite home decor stores, Serena & Lily.

Cranberry candy cane centerpiece vase
I can’t wait to make this fun cranberry candy cane vase. We usually prune our English roses in early December because the frost tends to hit us rather early, but with all the rain we’ve been getting in Northern California over the last month or so, the frost has stayed away and our roses are still flourishing….in December! I love the idea of adding inexpensive candy canes to a vase and fake cranberries – so festive and fun! If you’d like to add fresh flowers to the vase just add a foam core in the middle. If you don’t have flowers blooming, you can always add fake flowers to the vase or head to your local grocery store to pick some up for the holidays! PS If you don’t have cranberries you can always add ornaments to the bottom!

Holiday apple votives
Lonni Paul created a beautiful festive display of holiday apple votives. She used real apples (make sure you get ones that sit up straight) and then cored the apples with an apple corer. She added a battery operated votive which she placed inside the top of the apple.

Floral wreath twist
Last but certainly not least, Lonni Paul created my favorite project of all, the floral twist wreath! She used a circle foam core, ribbons, flowers and pins to make this delightful wreath to hang from your door.
