Candace Rose: Why is it so important to eat food with simple ingredients?

Ali Larter: “I think that we’re busier than ever and to keep your energy up, it’s important to make good food choices, so I’m excited to team up with Dole to launch their new line of Dole Garden Soups. It’s Non-Gmo, no preservatives. It’s just a premium line of ready to serve soups. It’s easier to grab for that and really do something good for your body, then grab that cookie or those chips in the afternoon.”

Candace Rose: You’re a busy mom, actress and cookbook author. What advice do you have for families on eating healthy?

Ali Larter: “I think we can just do the best we can do, and if you can gather them to go to the farmers market sometimes and cook together, that’s a great way to get kids excited to eat more vegetables. For me, I love to entertain so I throw a lot of dinner parties, and one of the things I’ve found is that you can toast your spices. I have a turkey chili that’s on my website, and you can toast the cumin and get all the spices going…that way you don’t have to add extra butter and oil and things like that.”

Candace Rose: With fall and winter approaching, how can we get garden fresh flavors all year round?

Ali Larter: “Well, it’s true. It’s like our gardens are kind of starting to come to the end and so one of the easy things is to grab a vegetable soup, and that way you can kind of have that and enjoy that garden fresh flavor and not worry about going to the store and getting everything together.”

Candace Rose: What is Dole Garden Soup and what inspired you to get involved?

Ali Larter: “There’s gardening in my family, so they asked me to host and judge the Souper Gardener contest, and so if you send in a picture of your garden, you can win $5,000 for you and $5,000 for your local community garden, so I’m excited about that! My grandfather you used to come with bushels of corn and tomatoes, and so I can’t wait to see everyone’s personal gardens.”

Candace Rose: You’re also starring on the new hit show “Legends”. Can you tell us about your character, Crystal, and what we can expect this season?

Ali Larter: “I play a character named Crystal McGuire. We play agents in the FBI that are part of the DCO, the Dark Cover Operations. It’s been really fun to kind of dive into a role like that because she’s no-nonsense, she’s the head of her team, and she usually has to run a bunch of guys. It’s kind of fun to drop into that tough cookie side, and then I have the other side of my life where I’m always home and I’m cooking. It’s nice to be able to get those two parts of it.”

Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information on everything that you mentioned today?

Ali Larter: “If you go to DoleSouperGardener.com, that’s where you can send in your pictures up until October 17th, and then I may choose you to be America’s next Soup Gardener!”
