Many of us in our 20s, 30s and 40s grew up watching “Sesame Street”. I loved all the characters, especially Big Bird, Ernie and Bert, Elmo and the Cookie Monster, but there was one who really had an impact on my life and that was Forgetful Jones. My grandfather had dementia and Alzheimer’s when I was a small child – I’m not sure if my parents told me that my grandpa’s forgetfulness was similar to that of Forgetful Jones or if I just picked up on that myself, but nonetheless it made my grandpa’s diagnosis and behavior much easier to deal with! And I’m not the only one, these special characters have had positive impacts on children and adults of all ages for decades. Can you believe that Sesame Street” is celebrating their 45th anniversary this year?
To celebrate the classic program’s anniversary, Big Bird and his muppet pals (Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Oscar the Grouch, Grover, Murray) stopped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to help Jimmy read his favorite hilarious tweets with the hashtag #WhenIWasAKid tonight.
