I hate ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) with a passion. My great uncle suffered with the disease for nearly 20 years until he passed away in 2003. ALS robbed him of his speech, mobility (he was wheelchair bound for years), but never his smile. According to the ALS Association every year about 5,600 people are diagnosed with ALS in the U.S. and it can affect anyone. My mom and I participated in a walk a few years ago for ALS awareness and I was shocked to see high school students and young adults who had been afflicted with the disease.
ALS has been on the map lately, thanks to celebrities and people across the U.S. participating in ALS ice bucket challenges. Actor Antonio Sabato Jr who is on location in Jackson, MS shooting his new series “Fix It & Finish It” took the challenge today! Check out the video below and watch Antonio Sabato Jr dunk himself with the largest bucket of ice we’ve seen yet. He’s a champ, he filled an entire ice chest with ice water! Go Antonio! Many thanks to him and everyone who is helping to bring more awareness to ALS through the ALS ice bucket challenge!
