Candace Rose: What should parents be looking for this back to school shopping season?

Mary Carlomagno: “This is the time of year when kids really start making their own list of the fun things they want for back to school, and parents start making a list of the things they need for back to school. What we’re going to try to do is combine both lists and get fun and functional all in one. I’m an organizer by nature and by trade, so I like to keep the house less cluttered and I love to have a really great tablet. The tablet that I love the most is the ASUS MeMO Pad eight inch Android. This tablet is powered by the Intel atom processor, it’s under $200, great features here. It has all day battery life, lightening fast web browsing, super responsive apps and seamless downloads. Talking about fun, if you go to you’ll see the great colors they have. You can get black, white, purple, even gold. I think it’s a great way to combine fun and function at the back to school time for kids and parents alike.”

Candace Rose: What are some challenges that come with back to school shopping?

Mary Carlomagno: “Well, I think you want to include the kids and get input, but you also want to be prepared with a list, and I think that’s always important. You can do a little research on your tablet and figure out where you’re going to shop and prepare a list for that and also set a budget.

Speaking of budget, everybody needs to have the tech necessity of a smartphone so I think when it comes to something reliable and powerful, TracFone is a great, great option. It runs on the most reliable network, it’s the largest no contract network service provider on the most dependable network. It gives you that peace of mind you’re going to be able to reach your kids, they’re going to be able to reach you. Older kids can even use it for scheduling and with prices that start at $19.99 for 90 days, that can average like $7 a month, which is great. It fits in with any budget, so is something you can check out online. It’s a really great dependable option, so you can reach your kids and they can reach you. It’s going to give parents and kids a lot of comfort moving into the school season.”

Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share?

Mary Carlomagno: “Well, I would be remiss if I did not mention clothing shopping at back to school time because kids certainly love to buy new clothes for back to school and parents really want to have clothes that have a lot of options, so Dickies does just that (please watch the video above to see Dickies gym clothes and back to school clothing). They also have really great backpacks which are available at selected items. Head to to see the full line and it just creates great options for kids this time of year, they look great, they feel great and they also can have some input on clothing shopping. We’re back to combining fun and function.”
Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information on everything you mentioned?

Mary Carlomagno: “Definitely go to to check out that great tablet, go to about the phone, certainly to check out fashions like the ones you see here, and you can always follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.”
