For over 100 years young girls across America have looked up to the Girl Scouts of the USA for what they stand for and what they can aspire to achieve. I still remember the disappointment I felt when my mom broke the news to me that my school didn’t have a troop, I had so desperately wanted to be a Brownie and have the opportunity like my mom had growing up to be a Girl Scout. While I never had that chance, I support the local Girl Scout troops and young girls I know selling cookies in the spring. When it comes to cookies, I can’t pick just one, it varies between thin mints, tagalongs and lemonade cookies.
Like many of my peers, I wish that Girl Scout cookies were for sale all year! Well, lucky for us, we don’t have to wait until spring to taste a Thin Mint, thanks to Nestle and the Girl Scouts of the USA, we have the chance this summer to purchase limited edition Girl Scout candy bars and help these young ladies go to camp.
Nestle and the Girl Scouts have teamed up for the “Let’s Get Her To Camp” campaign with actress and country music singer Lucy Hale of the teen drama “Pretty Little Liars” as the face of the campaign. According to Lucy, “Some of these girls are going to camp for the first time, for me going to camp is some of my fondest memories growing up, and to be the face of this campaign and to try and help out in any way that I can is absolutely amazing.” Nestle kicked off the campaign with a $200,000 donation towards Girl Scouts of America scholarships, and you can help increase that amount with every Girl Scout candy purchase you make! You’ll not only help girls gain scholarships, but many more will now have the chance to bond with their friends and learn life changing skills at camp.
