Most of us have been affected by cancer in some way, and unfortunately many of us know someone who has passed away from the disease. In 2004, I lost one of my favorite professors to ovarian cancer. According to OvarianCancer.org, over 14,000 people will lose their battle with ovarian cancer in 2014, but the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund is working to change that. The “Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) which is the largest and oldest charity funding research on ovarian cancer in the U.S.” held their annual Super Saturday fundraising event in New York City today. The event which was hosted by Kelly Ripa and Donna Karan, raised over $3.7 million last year toward ovarian cancer research. It will be exciting to see how much they were able to raise this year to help put an end to this horrific disease.
Celebrities Alec Baldwin, our friend Phillip Bloch, Lisa Rinna, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, ovarian cancer survivor Diem Brown of MTV, Nicky Hilton, and more came out to support Super Saturday and do their part to help bring more awareness to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s efforts to put a stop to ovarian cancer.
