I’ve always been obsessed with ice cream, it’s definitely one of my guilty pleasures! I feel sorry for the ice cream man that traveled through my grandma and grandpa’s neighborhood, I’m pretty sure my brother and I used to stalk him with our spare change….poor guy! While I’m not fortunate enough to live in a neighborhood with an ice cream truck, I try to make homemade ice cream every chance I get. I usually rely on my trusty Vitamix which makes it in a jiffy and is delicious as ever! It’s much easier than the hand crank ice cream maker my family used on holidays to make fresh peach ice cream when I was a kid, but the memories aren’t quite as memorable. If you love delicious ice cream (whether it’s homemade or store-bought) as much as I do, or on the hunt for a great new family tradition to celebrate the 4th of July, you should check out “The Chew” chef Michael Symon’s strawberry shortcake ice cream bars! You can make your own homemade vanilla ice cream for the recipe or use store-bought, it all depends on YOU.
