The 4th of July is just a week away, and if you’re on the hunt for a great patriotic DIY craft project that you’ll love and want to hang up outside or inside your home, you’re in luck. I’ve always loved the look of American flags painted on wood (I know you’ve seen them in high end retail shops and on Pinterest) but I never thought I had the skill to make them. Well, according to my favorite crafters and lifestyle experts, Kenneth Wingard, Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare of “Home and Family” this task is not only doable, it’s a must! Not only is this perfect for Independence Day, but with Labor Day just a few months away, this beautiful American flag that Kenneth made with scrap wood is definitely something you can keep outside on your porch or patio or hang up inside or outside your home for months to come.
We’re so excited to share their beautiful wooden American flag video tutorial below, as well as the DIY Flag Bunting. Don’t forget to tune into one my favorite shows on the planet, “Home & Family” which airs weekdays at 10 am on the Hallmark Channel.
Materials you’ll need to DIY this beautiful American flag for $25 or less:
- 6 pieces of scrap wood (or salvaged wood) about three feet in length
- Red, White and Blue spray paint
- Sand paper
- Painters tape
- Staple gun
