With Memorial Day celebrations kicking off this weekend, I can’t think of a better dessert (or breakfast, lunch and dinner:)) to celebrate with than this phenomenal Red Velvet Swirl Cake (with a cheesecake swirl) that chef Mario Batali of “The Chew” baked on yesterday’s (Tuesday, May 20, 2014) show with “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts!

Red Velvet Swirl Cake Ingredients: 

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Baking Powder
  • Baking Soda
  • Salt
  • Eggs
  • Buttermilk
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Red food coloring
  • Vanilla
  • White vinegar
  • Butter
  • Bundt pan
  • Cream cheese
  • Granulated sugar
  • Powdered sugar
  • Black pepper
  • Cake plate

 

 

In the second video Mario Batali and the gang on “The Chew” try his red velvet swirl cake, and “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts dishes on her new book “Everybody’s Got Something“. The interview was very inspiring, she talked about her parents (did you know her dad was one of the Tuskegee airmen?) and the important lessons she learned from her mom and extended family including “When you strut you stumble”, “Make your mess your message”, and “This too shall pass”.
