Candace Rose: What’s new in health and fitness tech this spring?
Jeana Lee Tahnk: “There are so many great products that are cropping up to jumpstart your fitness and overall wellness. I have five products that I want to talk about today! The first is LifeProof. LifeProof is a fantastic company because they make mobile device cases that are totally waterproof, drop proof. They’re actually everything proof. They protect your phone from dirt, dust, sand, surf- even kids. It’s just a fantastic product to have for anyone with a mobile device. For fitness specifically it also comes these really cool fitness accessories, so if you want to go running in the rain or mountain biking, you can slap that case and you’re off and running.
Another great product is from TomTom. Wearable fitness is really hot right now, and TomTom has come out with a brand new running watch. It’s the Runner Cardio GPS watch, it’s going to be available in May. You can pre-order it right now on Amazon. What makes this cool is that it’s really designed for runners of all levels, whether you’re running a marathon or even just starting out running and you want to do a 5K. This is a great route watch because it incorporates really cool and innovative heart rate monitoring technology to improve your overall fitness level and performance.
We have fitness covered, another really important product is health. If you have high blood pressure that runs in your family like me, Withings offers this blood pressure monitor, this is a fantastic product because it slides onto your arm and it’s FDA approved so you know that the readings are really accurate. It’s smart because it syncs directly into your iOS or Android device, so it automatically syncs those readings into a free app that you can just keep track to show your doctor if that’s something you’re monitoring together.
Fitness and health, and obviously a huge piece of the overall wellness is nutrition. Health Warrior Chia Bars are a really great way to get all of your nutrients in this one little package. They are chock full of Chia seeds and they really harness the power of Chia which provides such great nutrients like calcium and fiber. It’s just a great pick me up to have. I start lagging at around 3:00 in the afternoon, and my kids love it because you can throw it in their lunch boxes and there are all these different flavors to choose from. That’s a really nice energy pick-me-up. Chia seeds are really trendy right now, I see them popping up everywhere.
I actually put them into my morning smoothies, and this Blendtec Designer 725 is the fastest, safest and smartest blender on the market. And smoothies really scratch the surface of what they do. This can make everything from smoothies to soups to salad dressings. I know nutrition is really important, but this bad boy even makes ice cream, which gives it a huge thumbs up in my book. It has this really cool interactive touchscreen interface, kind of taking a page from the tech gadgets we’re using. It’s starting to be incorporated into kitchen appliances. This is just a fantastic way to make sure your family is eating really nutritionally and has all of the great nutrients there.
