Candace Rose Anderson Aveeno Daily Challenge Week Two Daily Moisturizing Lotion and De-Stressing Update!

Today marks two weeks since I started the Aveeno Daily Challenge! As a 2014 Aveeno Ambassador, I committed to using Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion and de-stressing/taking time for myself on a daily basis for the next three weeks. I absolutely adore their daily moisturizing lotion, my skin feels so moisturized and I love that the lotion is so lightweight. It’s been perfect for the summer like weather we’ve been experiencing in Northern California lately.

In last week’s update, I mentioned how difficult it had been at first to make time for myself and not work 24/7. This week was a little bit different. The week started well, I was getting used to taking time for myself – still feeling a bit guilty, but it wasn’t as bad. On Wednesday I started feeling a migraine coming on, and boy did it hit hard. When I’m sidelined with a migraine, it’s the only time that I don’t care about anything and I don’t worry about a darn thing. I’m naturally very talkative and a people person, but all I want to do is just curl up in my bed without any noise and my appetite just disappears. My dogs won’t leave my side, and every time I get one I’m reminded of how blessed I am when I don’t have them. They serve as a reminder of how important it is for me to take care of my health, and taking care of myself.

I was migraine-free from mid-Thursday to about Sunday morning, and then one hit again. I made a “migraine green juice” ย with kale, cucumber, celery ginger root, pineapple, ice, lemon in my Vitamix (found the recipe on Pinterest), talked with my neighbors/family and started feeling better. I’m going to start making this green juice every day in addition to resting/taking care of me/de-stressing and seeing how that goes. I’m really hoping by adding these beneficial nutrients into my life in addition to de-stressing, it’s really going to help.

In the first week of the challenge, I learned that the world didn’t fall apart when I took time for myself and that I was okay to do so, despite stressful events that were occurring around me. This week was more of the same, and I realized that nothing is going to change unless I do. I had a really good week despite the pain I was experiencing, I got to see my dad and hang out with him for a bit, I met some interesting new people, hung out in the garden and allowed myself the the rest my body is craving, and of course counted my blessings.

How are you challenging yourself? It’s not too late to take part in the Aveeno Daily Challenge! It’s been a real wakeup call for me, and the best thing I could have done for myself. I encourage you to take part. Have a great week!!!
