Are you on the hunt for the top spring trends in men’s fashion, but don’t know what’s in style or where to start? If so, you’ve come to the right place! Esquire magazine’s Senior Fashion Editor and renowned fashion expert, Wendell Brown joined me for an interview this morning to dish on the top fashion trends men will be sporting this spring and into summer.
Candace Rose: Now that Fashion Week has ended, what are some styles we can take from the runway and utilize in our own lives?
Wendell Brown: “Well, we’ve seen a lot of trends for spring, a lot of color and a lot of pattern- floral patterns even. But there’s also been an athletic trend too, so we’ll be seeing a lot more basic things like t-shirts. And a t-shirt is a great thing for every guy to have in his wardrobe.”
Candace Rose: Are there any other basics that every guy needs to add to his wardrobe?
Wendell Brown: “There’s lots of them, but the one I want to tell you about is the one I’m wearing which is the Comfort Blend Tee by Hanes (which I think is the softest shirt I’ve ever worn). It’s available at Walmart stores nationwide and at Hanes.com. It’s got a modern fit, so it’s very fashionable…but it’s also super comfortable and the collar lays flat. And there’s no tag, it’s tagless which is just the best invention ever because you’re not itching and you can wear it all day long.”
Candace Rose: What are some cool accessories this season?
Wendell Brown: “Accessories we’ve seen a lot of – pocket squares, ties that are interesting, sunglasses, watches…but the newest accessory for guys that they’re going to live with for their whole life is technology. I have from LG the new G Flex phone. This is the world’s first curved smartphone, so it’s actually really lightweight, it’s got a beautiful large screen…but the curve cuts down on the glare so if you’re watching a YouTube clip or looking at pictures…it has a much more cinematic experience. It’s like having a little theater on your phone, it’s great. The back is actually self healing so there’s no scratching if you accidentally drop it or if it’s in a pocket with your keys. Also the Curve keeps your battery longer, so you’re not going to lose your battery all day long and you’re not going to have to keep charging it. It’s available from AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. It’s super lightweight and a guaranteed head turner.”
Candace Rose: What are some of your personal favorite trends this season?
Wendell Brown: “I actually love the whole athletic thing because it’s much more comfortable to wear in the summer time, even though we don’t know it now because it’s winter, it gets so so hot…so having a lot more options of having shorts and t-shirts and a lot more color are some of the things that I love.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share with us?
Wendell Brown: “Absolutely. Just because it’s cold now and it’s February, it’s actually the perfect time to get a jumpstart on buying your spring wardrobe. They have your sizes, they have great deals out there. These t-shirts retail for under $7 or so. It’s the perfect time to get a head start because if you wait too late, they might run out.”
Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information?
