Looking to throw a fun party for Super Bowl XLVIII? Whether you’re rooting for Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos or Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks, or just love Super Bowl Sunday for the commercials, you’re in luck! Lifestyle expert, Marc Silverstein was kind enough to join me this morning for an interview to dish his favorite tips for throwing a fabulous party you’ll enjoy and your guests will love.
Candace Rose: What’s the secret to throwing a fun Super Bowl party that your guests will be talking about for months?
Marc Silverstein: “The secret is you’re going to volunteer for this one because it’s the easiest party of the year to host. All you need is some good food and a good place to watch, and you’re set. The entertainment is already built in. Whether you’re rooting for the Broncos or the Seahawks, I think we can all agree- winning play, good food and good place to watch it.
So just like the team, you have to have great starters. I love Sabra hummus. It’s delicious, it’s smooth, it’s nice and creamy. It comes in more than 12 different flavors and varieties. It’s perfect and goes with everything. So you’re going to definitely have some wings, and use that as an app for the wings or hamburgers or sliders. And of course, chips and veggies- it’s perfect for them. And you know what else? It’s better for you, and it is the official dip sponsor of the NFL.
Here’s a great dish for you- Buffalo sausage cheese dip. It takes like five minutes to make this, it’s easy. People are going to be eating all four quarters (and overtime). You make it with cream cheese, sour cream, a little bit of hot sauce, some celery- Jimmy Dean Hearty Sausage crumbles. These make it easy to add perfectly season Jimmy Dean sausage to any meal with no prep and no mess. In fact, they’re fully cooked, all you have to do is heat them right up and come in a resealable pouch. Use what you need and put the rest away for later. They come in three great flavors: original, hot and spicy and turkey. You can find it in the refrigerator section of your local grocery.”
Candace Rose: How about when it comes to drinks?
Marc Silverstein: “People are going to bring drinks; they’re going to offer to bring drinks…and tell them what you want, and you’re going to have adult beverages. In addition, you’ve got to have a lot of water. Don’t forget juice boxes for the kids, there are probably going to be some kids at the party, so you want to make sure everyone is covered.
Do you know what the latest trend is in these games? According to a survey from LG, it’s Staygating. We’re not going to the game, we don’t have tickets…the prices. You’re going to save a million dollars, you’re going to stay home and be with the people you love. 76% of the people surveyed hosted at least one big game party in their lifetime, and with LG’s 55 inch LA7400, it makes entertaining easier. The full HD, 3D LED TV has high end design aesthetics and a simpler smart TV experience. It comes with Netflix, Amazon and Pandora. It has everything to help you better focus on the big game. It’s on sale right now for $1599.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any suggestions when it comes to decor?
Marc Silverstein: “You’re going to decorate nice and easy. You’re going to go to the Dollar Store. You’re going to get some astroturf, cut that up and put that out as coasters for the cups and bottles and the glasses. You’re going to get a football tablecloth, and get some footballs so people can throw them around…and maybe some little ones so nothing gets broken. Have people dress in their favorite team colors. That’s all you need! Like I said, it’s the easiest party of the year.”
