Candace Rose: With May being Family Wellness month what can families do to be more health conscious?

Kelli Calabrese: “Candace, this is the time of year when we all want to get outside and enjoy that great weather and fresh healthy food. But we also want to protect our family from colds and allergies that they might be dealing with in springtime, so I’ve got a couple tips for you!

As far as the common cold, we know that exercise and proper diet are important; but what most people don’t know is that a daily supplement can actually help to boost immunity. I found one that’s actually two times more effective than vitamin C and echinacea, and that’s Alomune. It’s approved by the Good Housekeeping seal, and right now they’re offering a 30 day free sample to anyone who goes to TryAlomune.com. So right off the bat let’s prevent colds this spring.”

Candace Rose: Absolutely! How important are vitamins and supplements along with their daily meals?

Kelli Calabrese: “The reality is that our foods just are not the same quality as our great great grandparents foods, so we do need to supplement. And a lot of times we’re not eating enough vitamins and minerals and nutrients that we need to stay healthy. A lot of people don’t realize this, but a lot of our health comes from the food that we eat. For example, some people when they go outside they’ll have issues with allergies. You can help that some with nutrition and you can also keep your home clean, but the reality is this spring when families are going outside and they start getting the symptoms like those itchy eyes and runny nose, you still do need a good quality allergy supplement like these I found at Dollar General. What’s great is you’re getting the same quality as the national brands, but at a fraction of the price. You can find these at stores all across the country, as well as online.”

Candace Rose: With spring upon us and warmer temps on their way, what are some great ways we can get fit this season?

Kelli Calabrese: “Yeah, Candace, getting outside this time of year is fun for the whole family, so for example after dinner just head outside to the yard or park and bring a ball or a frisbee, walk the dog- just get moving. It doesn’t necessarily need to be any kind of formal exercise.

But also, Candace when they’re outside you want to remember to stay hydrated when you’re exercising. So drink before, while you’re exercising, and also after. We know that water is always going to be the beverage of choice, but sometimes during these warmer months sometimes people want a different option that’s refreshing. I found these great frozen concentrates from Old Orchard, and they’re available in the freezer section. They have tea, and they also have tea and lemonade, and also some great fruit blends like berry blends, and also apple and mango, passion fruits. Those are refreshing and kids are more likely to drink them in the warmer days.”

Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share with us?

Kelli Calabrese: “Absolutely. When you want to get exercising it’s always good to choose a buddy to help keep you accountable, if you’re family isn’t on board right away, but you want to do the best to set an example for your family.

Morning exercisers tend to stick with it the most, so try and get up early! It jump starts your day and jump starts your metabolism to get your body moving.”
