On Friday night’s episode of “Fashion Star” (season 2 episode 6) ‘Buyers Choice’ the contestants/designers were informed by Fashion Star judges/mentors Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos and Nicole Richie that they would have the wonderful opportunity to meet with each one of the buyers exclusively to see just what it would take to not only get bought this week, but to be successful designers in general.
Silvia Arguello, who has sold the most to Saks Fifth Avenue, met with Caprice Willard of Macy’s to find out just what Macy’s is looking for this season. Daniel Silverstein chose to meet with Erika De Salvatore of Express who advised him “I really need you to create through the Express lens.”
The contestants felt quite a bit of pressure on Friday’s episode due to the fact that they could potentially be eliminated even if they were bought that night.
Amber Perley of Team John created a beautiful peplum blazer that wasn’t bought by either of the stores. Erika De Salvatore (of Express) told Amber the reason she didn’t place a bid was “I’ve been rooting for you the whole time, I’ve got to tell you the yellow skinny jean with the white peplum blazer is not a power girl outfit for a New York City meeting.”
Unfortunately JesseRay Vasquez and Garrett Gerson’s blazer vest (Team Jessica) wasn’t purchased either. Erika De Salvatore of Express stated that she was looking for a new basic idea from them.
Daniel Silverstein’s Illusion Jacket (Team Nicole) was not bought this week either. Terron E. Schaeffer of Saks Fifth Avenue told him that he felt that his jacket was too engineered.
When it came down to elimination, the three designers that were chosen to stand next to host Louise Roe and face the music from the buyers were: Amber Perley of Team John, JesseRay Vasquez and Garrett Gerson of Team Jessica, and Daniel Silverstein of Team Nicole. Caprice Willard of Macy’s voted for Amber Perley to be eliminated, Erika De Salvatore of Express voted for Daniel Silverstein, and in the end Terron E. Schaeffer of Saks Fifth Avenue had the difficult task of telling Amber Perley that she would not be this season’s “Fashion Star.”
