Candace Rose: Why is spring the perfect time to adopt a healthier lifestyle?

Jason Roberts: “Well, I think it’s one of those times of the year, not unlike New Year’s Eve where people actually make goals and set goals. But I guess I have a bit of a bone to pick with the start of spring because most people think ‘Well, hold on summer’s around the corner and I need to fit into my bikini or my board shorts’ or something like that. I think we need to be more conscious than that particular day of the year. I think we need to think about lifestyle changes, and I think we need to think about weight loss for life.”

Candace Rose: What are some useful tools to keep people on the right nutritional track?

Jason Roberts: “I think first and foremost the tool to have is the right attitude towards it. Taking a positive attitude towards weight loss for life; taking a positive attitude towards the way you feel and the way you look- these are important facets to actually think about.

I think one of the best things that I can sort of encourage people, is my own personal testimony. When we were hit with Hurricane Sandy, I actually put a whole lot of weight on because I was eating pizza or eating pasta or drinking beer and stuff like that. I was trying to get past these winter blues and some of the ailments we were suffering because of no water and no electricity.

I think one of the first things I did was have the right attitude. Once I got through this I tore up a couple bad pictures of myself, and what I did was eat better. I eat better and now I exercise a heck of a lot better, and I supplement. Supplementation is probably the key ingredient right here because it’s a maintenance thing.”

Candace Rose: Can you tell us more about supplementation?

Jason Roberts: “Supplementation for me is certainly one of those things in life that we need to be conscious of because unfortunately our busy lifestyles, a lot of the fruits and vegetables that we do have and its ability to provide phytonutrients and phytochemical content is not necessarily always there because it’s cold stored. And fruits and vegetables actually start to lose some of their goodness, and that’s why supplementation is super important.

I actually joined with BodyKey by Nutrilite which actually gave me the chance to snack really well by dropping the pounds- meal replacement shakes, super green aloe shots, appetite control chews sort of all fit really nicely into the way I was already eating. So I was able to maintain eating well, but with supplementation I knew I was getting all the phytonutrients, phytochemicals. But at the same time keep my hunger at bay because one of the biggest issues when trying to lose weight is you’re constantly hungry. You need to put the right things into your system and breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, still.”

Candace Rose: Is BodyKey safe for somebody who is on medication, or should you talk to your doctor before you start taking it?

Jason Roberts: “Absolutely. It’s safe, but if you want to be super conscious, I would always recommend before you start anything new to consult your doctor. And that’s with anything you do- with exercise, with certain foods. When I started to really be conscious of my weight and drop it, I went and consulted a nutritionist anyway, and I found out in doing so, I was gluten intolerant. That’s why I wasn’t losing the weight, because it was causing inflammation. I would always consult someone anyway before you make any radical changes in your life.”

Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share with us?

Jason Roberts: “Look, like I said, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so you need to break the fast. You haven’t eaten for maybe seven to eight hours, and breaking the fast is important because it starts your concentration levels, your metabolism and your energy levels.

Lunch and dinner are super important as well. Don’t eat dinner too late.

Snacking? Don’t reach for the overprocessed white flour, white sugar, white rice, cans of soda- those kinds of things that give you instant energy, because they’re going to fluctuate the energy level that you have throughout the day and you’re not going to maintain it. Definitely consult someone. Check out a naturopath because you may have some intolerances to certain foods. But the reason I love BodyKey so much is because of the gluten free content.”

Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information?

Jason Roberts: “If you’d like any more information on BodyKey by Nutrilite, check out Amway.com/BodyKey. It’ll give you all the information on the products, the website and how to get started. Don’t wait any longer. You want to feel good, right?”
