Were you inspired by Jennifer Lawrence’s statement necklace on the Oscar red carpet last weekend? How about Charlize Theron’s beautiful diamond jewelry? Or perhaps even Jessica Chastain or Catherine Zeta Jones glamorous old Hollywood waves? If so, and you’ve been dying to recreate these looks for your next red carpet event or a night on the town but don’t know where to start…you’re in luck! Star magazine’s beauty and fashion director Cheryl Kramer Kaye joined me once again, this time to chat about the top celebrity trends we recently saw on the Oscar red carpet and how you can recreate these looks at-home!
Candace Rose: Cheryl, as the beauty and fashion director at Star magazine, what are some of the top celebrity trends you’re seeing and where do we start?
Cheryl Kramer Kaye: “I always like to start with the jewelry because that’s my personal favorite. One of my favorites this year on the red carpet was Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars. She had on this beautiful delicate strand of diamonds and she wore it in a very interesting way, hanging down her back; rather than down her front. It was sort of a ‘backlace’ instead of a necklace.
Charlize Theron, another standout for me with her diamond bracelets stacked upon each other, really just a dazzling look. And for these beautiful looks we turned to Effy who is a New York based family owned jewelry manufacturer. They’ve been in the city for more than 30 years, and when you’re going to make an investment in a classic piece like this you’ll wear again and again, you want to make sure you’re going with somebody who has the quality and the craftsmanship of a master like Effy. The necklaces, for ones just like Jennifer’s- the price range is about $2500 to $7,000. And for a bracelet, and we’re talking lots of diamonds here (no skimping on the diamonds) are $5500 to up to $23,000. But again, these are pieces you’re going to have for your lifetime. You can buy them at EffyJewelry.com.”
Candace Rose: How about when it comes to beauty and hair trends?
Cheryl Kramer Kaye: “We saw a lot of strapless dresses on the red carpet this year. Amy Adams, for example was wearing this incredible gown, but what you really noticed was how glowing her skin was. And to get skin like that you really need to moisturize every day. But so many of us skip the moisturizer because it’s a pain to apply and wait for it to absorb before you get dressed- Vaseline has come out with a new breakthrough product: Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer. It is new technology, it’s a continuous spray lotion. You spray it on your skin, rub it in and it absorbs almost instantly, so you can get your clothes on and get out the door. That’s just $7.99 and available at drugstores.
Now on the hair front, we saw a real return to old glamorous waves starting with stars like Jessica Chastain and Catherine Zeta Jones really wearing these beautiful sculptured styles. But to make sure those don’t fall flat on the red carpet or in your life, you really need healthy hair. And that’s why we recommend Mane ‘n Tail Deep Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. They have proteins in them that are going to strengthen your hair, nourishing botanicals so your hair feels soft, looks shiny and it will have a heat protective quality so that you can use a blow dryer, use a curling iron and you’re not going to do any further damage to your hair. And that one is just $5 at Sally Beauty Stores or at ManeNTail.com.”
Candace Rose: Are there any other celebrity trends or must haves we should know about?
Cheryl Kramer Kaye: “Oh there are tons of them, but you should pick up a copy of Star magazine and check those out.”
Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information on everything you mentioned today?
Cheryl Kramer Kaye: “You can also hit up StarMagazine.com.”
