Are you looking up to update your existing technology this spring, or just interested in seeing what’s new this season? If you’re in the market for an All-in-One PC/Tablet or a camcorder with a projector that’s small enough to fit into your purse, you’re in luck. Tech expert Brett Larson joined me for an interview yesterday to chat about the latest and greatest new technology of the season, and share tips on how you can keep them all clean!
Candace Rose: What are some of the top new technology products this spring?
Brett Larson: “There’s all kinds of great stuff. We’re going to start with something new from Dell- their XPS 18 Portable All-in-One, and what’s great about is it’s the world’s thinnest and lightest all-in-one PC. It’s got a full HD touchscreen on it and it’s under five pounds. It’s an 18.4 inch screen, but as you can see here (please see video above) it’s actually going to change your touch PC experience. It’s got little feet on it- you can prop it up on the kitchen counter, you can put it on a desk or on a table if you want and it’ll hold itself up. You can use it just like a tablet computer, if you want. There’s even a dock for it, you can dock it at your desk and use it like a regular desktop computer. Five hours of battery life on this thing as well, so that’s great. This will come out in mid April, so very good stuff.
We like our cellphones; I love my cellphone, I just wish the battery lasted longer…and I wish the graphics were a little bit better. That’s why we’re looking at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon– it’s finding itself in the heart of today’s cool smartphones. And we’ve got a game up here on this one, this is the Google Nexus 4, we’ve been playing the driving game all morning! The graphics on this are just amazing, and it’s also not going to burn out your battery life, so it’s going to let you do all the things you love and leave you needing to recharge less, which is nice. When you’re surfing the web, when you’re checking your email, everything’s just going to feel zippier and quicker with that Qualcomm Snapdragon on your smartphone.
Very cool camcorder that we found from Sony– this is new from them, this is their High Definition Projector Handycam camcorder. It’s a full HD camcorder, and it’s not that big. It can slip into a purse or a backpack or in your pocket. But built into the side of this not too big camcorder is a projector. It’s built right into the front of the LCD screen there. What’s great about that is you can project all the movies that you shot through the day on a 100 inch screen. It’ll project up to 100 inches. Or you can use the built-in HDMI connector so you can connect to your laptop, to your tablet, to your computer if you want to and project a presentation. Maybe you’ve got a PowerPoint you have to give, or maybe you just want to watch movies the awesome way, like you’ve got a movie theater in your house by projecting it up on the screen. It’s got 16GB of internal memory that will hold up to six hours. You can also expand it with some flash memory cards.
We’re talking about spring, and we want to talk about spring cleaning. Norton 360 here to help spring clean all of your electronic devices. It works across multiple devices- it works on PC, the Mac, Android devices, your IOS smartphones, and Tablet computers. It will protect up to five different devices. It’s going to let you safely surf the web and keep you safe from viruses and things like that. It also comes with automatic PC back-up which is great because you don’t have to think about it. You set it up, it backs up stuff for you and puts it on a disk, puts it on a USB drive key or even better, you can actually store everything on Norton’s secure cloud. They give you 25GB of storage space on their secure cloud which is more than enough space for thousands of photos and documents or whatever you have there on your laptop or your desktop or your handheld device.
A good time is right now to think about backing up all those devices. And when we talk about spring cleaning, we can’t get away from spring cleaning without doing some actual cleaning. We need to clean off our electronic devices- we’ve got some Windex Electronic wipes, they’re going to be great for your smartphone; they’re not going to leave streaks and bubbles and make them look worse than they were. It’s going to take all the grime and the makeup and whatever else off of your smartphone. But what’s nice about these is they’re safe for your electronics. They’re going to clean without causing damage. You can use it on your TV if you want to, you can use it on your telephone.”
Candace Rose: Where can we go for more information?
Brett Larson: “Head over to KillerApps.tv for that and so much more information.”
