With Easter just hours away, are you on the hunt for last minute decor, dinner ideas and fun activities the entire family will love? If so, you’re in luck! Lifestyle expert Ceci Carmichael joined Candace Rose for an interview to dish on her favorite Easter dinner must haves, DIY decorating tips and fun activities the entire family will adore!
Candace Rose: With Easter just a day away, what are some of your favorite entertaining traditions?
Ceci Carmichael: “Well, you’re lucky you’re out in California. Here in the northeast it’s still a little bit cold, and I’m so hoping we can just fling the doors open and take the party outside come Easter time, and get the family and the kids and everybody.
The great thing about Easter is it has activities built into it like a good old fashioned Easter egg hunt, egg decorating, or egg and spoon races. We go real old school when it comes to Easter because it’s one of my favorite holidays.”
Candace Rose: Easter is never complete without an Easter basket. What are some of your favorite Easter treats?
Ceci Carmichael: “One of my favorite things about Easter is that you get to totally indulge on your sweet tooth and have full permission to eat all the candy that you want. This year I’m going all Nestle because they’re doing such a fun spin on the classic Easter candies. For instance in the middle of my Easter basket I’ve got a Crunch Easter bunny that looks adorable and tastes fantastic. I always use candy sort of as decoration as well, and have it out for people to eat. You’ve got the Crunch and Butterfinger nesting eggs that you put in your basket and put in your little bowls. To me, jellybeans and Easter…you can’t have one without the other. The Wonka Laffy Taffy jellybeans are so good, and then these fun bumpy jellybeans which are crunchy on the outside.
Here’s the really cool thing for your Easter egg hunt, Wonka Hard 2 Find Egg Hunt has these eggs that are camouflaged to look like grass and concrete and bark, so that when you put them out they almost disappear and really make the Easter egg hunt challenging. They’re pre-filled with Laffy Taffy and Nerds. Again, I always love products that do the work for you and all you have to do is sort of toss them out and everybody’s like ‘Where’d they go?”
Candace Rose: Do you have any suggestions when it comes to Easter dinner?
Ceci Carmichael: “Well, again, part of our tradition is a beautiful ham front and center for Easter. When I talk about products that take all the work out of it, when everybody’s out having fun on the Easter egg hunt, you don’t want to be in your kitchen slaving away in your kitchen. This year I’m going with a HoneyBaked Ham because they literally are fully cooked, ready to serve, and when I say ready to serve it’s basically unwrap the beautiful foil, put it on a platter, and take it out to your guests. They’ve got this really yummy sweet crunchy glaze on them. They’ve been smoked for over 20 hours.”
Candace Rose: Is there anything else we can do to make spring festive?
Ceci Carmichael: “Well, I always say keep it simple, keep it fun and go around your house. People always say ‘Oh, I have to go buy tablecloths and stuff.’ But you know nine times out of then, you’ve got everything you need in your house.
I’m not a crafty person at all. I want to start by saying that, I may go on Pinterest but I’m not crafty. The other day I thought, I’ve got a vase, I’ve got jellybeans…so I took a vase, and I put a glass inside and then put jellybeans around and water in the glass. I’ve got this really cool fun vase that took me 10 minutes. It was $5 for jellybeans and it’s all stuff I had, and it makes sort of this great pop of color on my table. So sort of repurpose things and use your imagination. I think entertaining is about how it reflects on you and your personality. There’s no right or wrong and I think people get sort of hung up. Also, get as much done ahead of time as you can.”
Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you’d like to share with us?
Ceci Carmichael: “Well, if you go to Videopump.tv, you can get product information and everything you saw here. Again, just try to enjoy your own party and enjoy the season as well.
